This paper reflects on "The Past and Future of Indigenous Peoples’ Heritage – Transforming the Legacies of Non-Sustainability of Protected Areas", on the conflicts, real or assumed, between sustainable nature conservation strategies of international organizations and the rights of indigenous peoples to self-determination. The article analyses whether and how marginalized indigenous peoples are reshap- ing non-sustainable practices in managing protected areas”. One of the research interests is to clarify that concerns with biodiversity in conservation bear many risks for indigenous peoples, which has resulted in some regions being in a constant state of dispossession and marginalization. Robert Rode explores two case studies from Africa which demonstrate that despite gaining access to international conservation organizations, indigenous peoples’ advances in participation rights-based approaches still remain subordinate, when compared to concerns with biodiversity in the conservation of protected areas. In order to prevent the marginalization of indigenous communities, a meaningful participation of indigenous peoples has to be ensured.

This paper examines harmful investments and protection of SNSs, by putting the focus on the realisation of Indigenous collective rights in the Northern and Arctic Regions. The chapter explores the potentials and limits with regards to the realisation of indigenous peoples rights in the Arctic and circumpolar North in relation to harmful investments, particuarly the attempts of aligning nature conservation and the principles of protecting indigenous peoples’ rights provided by the UNDRIP are analysed in the context of the implementation of the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage – commonly referred to as the UNESCO World Heritage Convention. Rode argues for a more participatory implementation of the World Heritage Convention in the light of the indigenous peoples‘ established rights to self-determination and free, prior and informed consent.

The article examines the handling of the rock-art site in the Ceto, Cimbergo and Paspardo Reserve. The site represents an example of a archaeological park open to the public where research continues using archaeological survey campaigns on the engraved rocks. An attentive eye is turned to other sectors like handling tourism and didactics, musealisation, preservation and evaluation of archeological and ethnographic heritage.

Wine is an integral part of life on the Croatian island of Hvar. Its significance is multivalent, from the importance of home production and consumption to its functions as a trade commodity and symbol of community and identity. Much of Hvar’s wine grapes are grown in the Stari Grad Plain, a UNESCO World Heritage-listed cultural landscape. Economic factors mean grape and wine production can be a precarious pursuit, and although wine retains a central cultural position many farmers on the Plain are abandoning agriculture in favour of tourism industries. To increase value of their product, grape and wine producers seek to tap into discourses of ‘heritage’ that are understood locally and shaped by globalised discourses of authenticity and quality. Wine producers have identified autochthonous grape varieties, particularly bogdanuša, as important elements in the promotion of Hvar wine. These grapes are able to simultaneously access multiple registers of value due to their uniqueness, perceived quality, heritage significance, emplaced ‘belonging’ on the island, and relationship to cultural practices and other important elements of cultural patrimony, and producers are optimistic about their role in the future success of the wine industry on Hvar.

The Valley of Flowers (VOF), a most spectacular flowering bonanza from the depths of the earth to the top of the Himalayas, is included in the list of eight World Heritage Sites by UNESCO on the recommendations of the Government of India and the World Conservation Union (IUCN) with effect from 14 July 2005.

Türkçenin tarihi geçmişi incelendiğinde sözlü dil tarihinin milattan önceki dönemlere, yazılı dil tarihinin ise 7. yüzyıla (Çoyr/Çoyren Yazıtı) kadar dayandığı bilinmektedir. Böylesine geniş bir tarihsel süreç Türkçenin kültür bakımından da zenginleşmesine olanak sağlamıştır. Bu durum başta ana dili öğretimi olmak üzere yabancı dil olarak Türkçe öğretimini de etkilemektedir. Çünkü dilin önemli işlevlerinden biri olan kültür aktarımı, dil öğretimi sürecinde de etkili olmaktadır. Bir toplumun karakteristik kültürel değerlerinin ve özelliklerinin yeni nesillere çeşitli yollarla aktarılması olarak tanımlanan kültür aktarımının bir boyutunu da Somut Olmayan Kültürel Miras (SOKÜM) unsurları oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, yabancı dil olarak Türkçe ders kitaplarında yer alan somut olmayan kültürel miras unsurlarını incelemektir. Çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemi çerçevesinde doküman incelemesine başvurulmuştur. Çalışma dokümanlarını Gazi Üniversitesi TÖMER tarafından yayımlanan yabancılar için Türkçe ders kitapları oluşturmaktadır. Dokümanlar tümdengelimsel analiz tekniği ile çözümlenmiştir. İncelenen ders kitaplarının tümünde SOKÜM ögelerine yer verildiği ancak okuma metni sayısı göz önünde bulundurulduğunda tüm kitaplarda SOKÜM unsurlarının oranının ortalama % 20 olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ders kitaplarının düzeyleri ele alındığında ise temel düzeyde (A1-A2) 9, orta düzeyde (B1-B2) 10, ileri düzeyde (C1) ise 7 SOKÜM ögesi tespit edilmiştir. Yabancı dil olarak Türkçe ders kitaplarında 38 SOKÜM alt ögesinden yalnızca 13'üne yer verildiği  Bu çalışma, 27-30 Nisan 2018 tarihinde Nevşehir'de gerçekleştirilen "X. Uluslararası Eğitim Araştırmaları Kongresi"nde sözlü olarak sunulan ve özet olarak yayınlanan bildiri temel alınarak hazırlanmıştır.
