AA. A screening of the total lipids and fatty acids (FAs) of 11 brown algae species of the genus Cystoseira (Phaeophyceae, Fucales) from the Tunisian coast is presented and discussed. Cystoseira species showed low total lipid content, ranging from 19.8 to 68.2 mg·g-1 dry weight. Fourteen major FAs were detected in the lipid extract of Cystoseira. The FA profile of lipid extracts was characterized by high amounts of saturated FAs (SFAs) ranging from 40.51% to 57.91% of total FAs, with predominance of the lipid fraction of palmitic acid (>30% of total FAs). The arachidonic acid (C20:4n-6) levels were found to be significantly high, ranging from 8% to 16% of total FAs. Multivariate analyses of FA composition showed low geographic differentiation, providing further evidence of intraspecific diversity. Cystoseira crinita, Cystoseira schiffneri, Cystoseira amentacea var. stricta, and Cystoseira sedoides stood out for their low polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA)/SFA ratios, low n-6/n-3 PUFA ratios, high unsaturation, and low atherogenicity and thrombogenicity indices, suggesting high nutritional value. RR. Aquí se presenta y discute un análisis de los lípidos totales y ácidos grasos (AG) de 11 especies de algas pardas del género Cystoseira (Phaeophyceae, Fucales) de la costa de Túnez. Las especies de Cystoseira mostraron un contenido lipídico total bajo que osciló entre 19.8 y 68.2 mg·g-1 de peso seco. Se detectaron 14 AG mayoritarios en el extracto lipídico de Cystoseira. El perfil de AG de los extractos de lípidos estuvo caracterizado por altas cantidades de AG saturados (AGS) que variaron de 40.51% a 57.91% del total de AG, con predominio de la fracción lipídica del ácido palmítico (>30% del total de AG). Los niveles de ácido araquidónico (20:4n-6) fueron significativamente altos, y variaron entre el 8% y el 16% del total de los AG. Los análisis multivariados de la composición de AG mostraron baja diferenciación geográ-fica, lo que aporta más evidencia de diversidad intraespecífica. Cystoseira crinita, Cystoseira schiffneri, Cystoseira amentacea var. stricta y Cystoseira sedoides destacaron por presentar bajas relaciones de ácidos grasos polinsaturados (PUFA)/AGS y PUFA n-6/n-3, alta insaturación y bajos índices de aterogenicidad y trombogenicidad, lo que sugiere un alto valor nutricional.

Bulla Regia :
Fondée à une date non encore précisée mais probablement antérieure au Ve siècle av. J.-C, Bulla semble avoir connu un essor rapide. Après 46 av. J.-C., la ville a commencé à se romaniser peu à peu. La religion gréco-romaine, les nouveaux noms romains portés par ses habitants et l’usage de la langue latine commencèrent à se répandre dans la vie quotidienne. La ville a connu les différents statuts municipaux en même temps qu’elle se dotait d’une parure monumentale. Y sont connus : un forum, des basiliques civiles, des thermes publics (thermes memmiens, grands thermes sud, thermes du nord-ouest du théâtre…), une bibliothèque, un marché, un théâtre, un amphithéâtre, un capitole (dédié à Jupiter, Junon et Minerve), des temples d’Apollon, d’Isis, de Saturne…
Bulla Regia doit sa célébrité à ses prestigieuses demeures munies d’étages souterrains, véritables joyaux de l’architecture domestique de la Tunisie antique. Elles portent les noms de Vénus, de la chasse, de la nouvelle chasse, de la pêche, des mosaïques, du trésor… rappelant la principale découverte souvent le sujet de pavement des mosaïques.
Les opérations militaires des périodes vandales et byzantines ne semblent pas avoir d’impact réel sur la vie en ville. Pendant cette période, furent construits des églises et un fortin. Les fouilles récentes ont mis au jour une nouvelles église périphérique et un vaste cimetière chrétien.
L’abandon progressif de la ville ne s’accomplit, probablement, que vers la fin du XIIe siècle. La ville a périclité certes, mais le processus était lent et le déclin n’a guère pris une forme brutale.

Cet article interroge les modalités de nomination des partis islamistes autorisés à participer aux élections dans cinq pays (Maroc, Algérie, Tunisie, Égypte et Turquie). Tandis que ceux-ci sont perçus comme les représentants d’un conservatisme religieux, leurs noms puisent dans des répertoires lexicaux forgés par deux formes de réformisme, l’islamisme de la Nahda et le développementalisme nationaliste. Ces noms énoncent la quête d’un modèle de développement dont l’authenticité s’appuierait sur une double volonté de concrétiser des normes islamiques à l’échelle nationale et de répondre aux revendications des populations locales. L’article montre néanmoins comment, en l’absence d’un tel modèle authentique, quatre mots issus du répertoire lexical
réformiste (justice, développement, liberté et renaissance) sont employés comme des « principes correcteurs ». Il contribue ainsi à expliquer comment le pragmatisme de l’islam politique se pratique selon un triptyque de logiques légaliste, d’affirmation électorale et de distinction politique.

Ocho años después de la revolución de la dignidad en Túnez, los debates sobre libertades individuales, derechos de las minorías sociales, raciales o sexuales siguen siendo al orden del día. Los espacios que se abrieron a partir de 2011 permitieron abordar la cuestión de genero y del acceso a la cultura por parte de mujeres desde numerosas perspectivas, entre las cuales aquella del activismo audiovisual. La asociación Chouf Minorities es una organización feminista intersexual tunecina que aboga por los derechos corporales y sexuales de las mujeres nacidas y/o que se identifican como tales. Chouf organiza desde 2015 el festival internacional de artes feministas, "Chouftouhonna" (en árabe "las he visto"), que reúne artistas, activistas, y estudiosas procedentes de diferentes países en el barrio popular de Halfaouine, en el centro de la ciudad de Túnez. El festival representa actualmente una de las realidades artísticas de activismo más destacada del sur del Mediterráneo, que gracias a su perspectiva internacional logra hacer de puente entre una pluralidad de realidades feministas del norte y sur global. A través de una entrevista a Alessia Ubaldini, activista y organizadora de Chouftouhonna, queremos abordar el tema de la relación entre arte, activismo político y cambio social en el Túnez post-2011. Queremos igualmente explorar los cambios en la trayectoria feminista tunecina, descubriendo el lugar cada vez más importante del feminismo interseccional y inclusivo en el contexto de la transición democrática. Con esta ventana social queremos también cuestionar las condiciones de acceso al arte, la cultura y el espacio publico urbano, mostrando ejemplos inspiradores de prácticas feministas innovadoras.

Like 2019, the new year and perhaps the new decade is likely to be pockmarked by popular protest, particularly in the Middle East and North Africa.

The question is what the protests that last year toppled the leaders of Sudan, Algeria, Lebanon and Iraq but only led to a genuine transition process in Sudan will produce.

The following research is aimed at carrying out on
exploratory analysis of the digital educational resources hosted on the
websites of higher education institutions in Tunisia, including free and
open access resources. It is based on a set of indicators related to their
generic and educational characteristics. Despite the quantative
importance of these resources, the suvery found that most them do not
meet the requirements of accessibility, compatibility and reusability.

Le budget participatif est une modalité de la démocratie locale, gage d’une meilleure participation des citoyens à la coproduction de l’action publique locale. Son usage semble remporter un certain succès dans une dizaine de communes tunisiennes depuis 2014, au point que se fait jour la volonté de plusieurs acteurs étatiques et associatifs de l’institutionnaliser à l’échelle nationale. La promotion de dispositifs participatifs au niveau local est loin d’être une « idée neuve » en Tunisie et fut jadis au service d’un projet de légitimation du régime et de contrôle de proximité des citoyens. Mais dans ses nouvelles mises en œuvre, sans rompre totalement avec les anciennes logiques, il permet d’identifier certaines des dynamiques territoriales et politiques qui façonnent le processus de décentralisation dans la Tunisie de l’après-Ben Ali. A partir d’une entrée par les policy transfers, nous montrons que le budget participatif est le fruit d’une combinatoire. D’un côté, il est le produit de la rencontre entre des arènes circulatoires de la participation et des entrepreneurs locaux du monde associatif ; de l’autre, il est au cœur d’enjeux et de luttes politiques territorialement situées. Espace d’énonciation d’un nouveau rapport au politique, il est aussi pour plusieurs acteurs locaux, notamment les exécutifs municipaux en mal de légitimité, une opportunité de construction d’un capital politique et une modalité de cadrage des dynamiques populaires.

The unexpected results of Tunisian legislative elections held in September and October 2019 reshuffled a highly contested political system and renewed a political elite accused of forgetting the claims and grievances raised by the 2011 revolution. Notably, popular discontent against Tunisian political elite grew in the wake of the inedited compromise between the Islamist party Ennahdha and the neo-bourghibist party Nidaa Tounès, which had faced each other in a crescent polarized landscape between 2012 and 2014. While the success of the Tunisian democratic transition seemed to hinge on this “twin toleration” compromise between Islamists and Secularists (Stepan 2012; 2018) some scholars warned about the detrimental effects of a “rotten compromise” on Tunisian democracy (Marzouqi 2015; Boubekeur, 2016). Indeed, on the one hand, this compromise led to a fragmentation of secularist forces (Nidaa Tounès, Machrou’ Tounès, Tahya Tounès), on the other hand, Islamists, traditionally considered as a monolithic bloc, have suffered electoral losses and faced new challengers questioning Ennahdha’s alliance with the actors of the old regime. These dynamics have paved the way towards the 2019 electoral results, which have weakened the incumbent political parties. We argue that this transformation cannot be understood through the mainstream Islamists vs. Secularists cleavage, due to the emergence of new political entrepreneurs who do not fit with this binary interpretation of political processes.

This paper focuses on the practices of belonging in the Italian community within Tunisia during the last years of the nineteenth century. Following the French invasion of the Regency in 1881, some Italians had a conflicting relation with the new colonial rule. In 1896, while international conventions reconciled the relations between France and Italy, the local upper-class was bitterly disappointed by a treaty that recognized the French rule in the Regency. This disappointment revealed a strong national sentiment in some members of the Italian upper-class in Tunisia. What were the reasons for such a feeling? In 1898, a law for the registration of the foreigners in Tunisia brought out the social differences within the Italian community. Some notables, supported by consular institution, sought to present the Italians in Tunisia as a united and homogeneous national group. On the one hand, social differences revealed the asymmetry within the Italian citizenship between the upper and the lower class. On the other hand, the condition of extraterritoriality limited by international conventions created a space of agency for Italian nationals. This condition could be used by those who presented themselves as harassed by the French authorities for their Italian national belonging, making the Italian citizenship in colonial Tunisia a strategic tool for personal agency.

The role of civil society as a democratising force, both under authoritarian regimes and during political transitions, has received renewed attention in the wake of the ‘Arab Spring’ uprisings. Considerable praise has been reserved for Tunisia, whose civil society played a prominent role in the country’s successful transition. However, as a thorough analysis of the Tunisian example illustrates, this contrasts sharply with its relatively marginal role in the pre-2011 period. Indeed, Tunisian civil society has not always been a pro-democracy force, its functions shifted with the political context, and different types of civil society organisations (CSOs) played widely different roles. Tracing the evolution of civil society in Tunisia from the establishment of the Ben Ali regime in November 1987 until after its fall in January 2011, the article develops a more nuanced and dynamic understanding of its roles before, during, and after the revolution. More specifically, it shows that before the revolution, only a handful of CSOs served as islands of political resistance, while the majority functioned as vehicles of regime resilience, helping to strengthen authoritarian rule in the country. During the revolution, members of more critical CSOs played an important supporting role in the spread, organisation, and continuation of protests. Finally, in the post-revolutionary period, former oppositional CSOs, together with a plethora of newly created CSOs, were crucial not only in successfully steering the country towards a democratic transition but also in strengthening the nascent democracy. Civil society should thus be understood in its variety and particular political context.

Статуя Геркулеса из Массико, хранящаяся в Musées national du Bardo, была обнаружена в 1946 г. Ее изучают уже более полувека. Со временем менялись точки зрения на вопрос о ее атрибуции. Изначально в ней видели изображение североафриканское синкретическое божество или одного из «солдатских» императоров. Позже было выдвинуто предположение, что она являлась надгробным памятником сигнифера. Ныне ее считают статуей Геркулеса. При этом исследователи не сочли необходимым выяснить, является ли лик этой скульптуры портретным изображением. Акцентируем внимание на этом вопросе. Считаем, что речь должна идти о весьма реалистичном портрете Траяна Деция. Причем, что немаловажно, этот фрагмент статуи сдвинут влево. Так что линии шеи и плеч не совпадают. Это свидетельствует о переделке скульптуры.
Полагаем, что изучаемый монумент изначально был статуей богини-охотницы – местной ипостаси Дианы. Она была облачена в львиную шкуру – символ ее мощи и могущества. В период правления Коммода статую модифицировали. Лик божества был заменен на портрет правящего императора – «римского Геркулеса». После его гибели скульптуру повредили. Была сколота правая часть лика императора. При Траяне Деции статую в очередной раз подправили. Вместо лица Коммода появился лик правящего государя. Переделка была предпринята с целью возвеличивания императора, покровительствующего официальной римской религии. После его гибели статуя потеряла культовое значение и украсила мавзолей. Так что монумент «Геракулес из Массико» является ценным источником по истории Северной Африки римского периода.
