L’autonomisation de toute langue réside dans sa capacité à nommer les réalités nouvelles. Malheureusement, les locuteurs des langues africaines, en général, et ceux des langues ivoiriennes en particulier, rencontrent des difficultés pour désigner les termes scientifiques et technologiques. Dans bien de cas, ils ont recours aux emprunts. Cette situation constitue un frein au développement de ces langues. Dans cet article, il est question de néologismes issus de combinaisons de lexèmes purement agni-sanwi traduisant au mieux les notions médicales, et les nouvelles entrées proposées ne doivent souffrir d’aucune ambiguïté. Les items utilisés sont en général des unités de la langue, pris avec leurs sens propres. Ils sont introduits dans un type de discours nouveau, celui de la médecine, prenant ainsi une nouvelle dimension.

This paper examines with a particular affixe (keter-/-an) consisting in two primary affixes. Through the analyse of terms coined by the Pusat Bahasa and spontaneous terms, the paper distinguishes between "double" and "complex" affixation, corresponding to different operating modes of affixation. The first deals with an already affixed and lexicalized word, then reaffixed and relexicalized. The second, almost only found in documents produced by the Pusat Bahasa, refers to a base getting a first affix in a poorly (or not) lexicalized form, constituting no more than a morphological stage towards the wished form, which is intent as lexicalized. Complex affix keter-Ran is basically a morphological calque and the author argues that it has been promoted and used during New Order on an ideological basis, as a mean to modernize Indonesian terminology by keeping its shape indigenous rather than by direct borrowing of English terms.

Buku ini mengkaji proses pemodernan kosakata bahasa Indonesia, khususnya di bidang peristilahan. Di antara berbagai soal yang dikaji di sini, yang paling mendesak berkisar pada soal akar-akar pemodernan bahasa Indonesia yang begitu pesat sepanjang abad ke-20, penanganan proses pemodernan tersebut oleh instansi-instansi pemerintah, baik pra maupun pasca-merdeka, dan keberhasilan kebijakan peristilahan mereka. Karena itu, pengarang merasa perlu untuk meneliti secara rinci dan mengevaluasi kegiatan peristilahan, terutama yang dikerjakan oleh Pusat Bahasa selama tiga dasawarsa Orde Baru. Dikaji pula kasus pemodernan bahasa yang boleh dikatakan cukup berhasil, dengan melihat jumlah dan keragaman bahasa Indonesia yang dituturkan. Selain itu, pengarang juga berusaha memberi dimensi konkrit dan praktis atas pekerjaannya dengan harapan dapat bermanfaat bagi pakar bahasa dan istilah Indonesia.

Documen ini ditampilkan di sini sebagaimana di dalam disertasi.

Le présent document, un lexique indonésien de la thermodynamique compilé de différents manuels scolaires, vient en complément du chapitre 12 de la thèse ci-dessus, partiellement publiée en 2005 sous le titre Modernisation lexicale et politique terminologique : le cas de l'indonésien, Louvain : Peeters. Ce lexique, annexe au chapitre 12 de la thèse (« Terminologie institutionnelle et implantation scolaire », p. 473-502) n'avait pu être joint à cette publication pour des raisons pratiques. Il est reproduit ici tel qu'il figure dans la thèse. Dokumen ini, peristilahan bidang termodinamika yang tercermin oleh sejumlah buku SMA, melengkapi bab 12 dari J. Cet article, ancré dans les recherches de l’implantation terminologique, présente les données du projet « En bons termes », qui a fait collaborer pendant quatre mois sur un forum en ligne divers acteurs de l’aménagement linguistique et terminologique canadien, dont l’Office québécois de la langue française (OQLF) et un groupe de locuteurs, dans le but de trouver des solutions terminologiques à des concepts sans dénomination en français. En nous concentrant sur les termes qui apparaissent sur les 11 fiches parues dans le Grand dictionnaire terminologique (GDT) à l’issue de ce projet, nous montrons comment l’OQLF a accueilli les suggestions des locuteurs, ainsi que la place et le statut d’acceptabilité qu’il leur a accordés dans les fiches. Les résultats montrent que l’organisme a fait preuve d’une réelle ouverture aux contributions des internautes et que celle-ci s’inscrit dans une attitude socioterminologique globale qui a pour objectif l’implantation réussie des termes dans l’usage.

Abstract: This article, framed within studies on term implantation, presents the results of the online collaborative project En bons termes between a group of speakers and various actors of language and terminology planning in Canada, including the Office québécois de la langue française (OQLF). The objective of the collaboration was to find suitable terminological solutions to name new concepts in French. With a focus on the terms that were published on 11 term records in the OQLF’s termbank, Le Grand dictionnaire terminologique, we analyse how the OQLF integrated speakers’ suggestions, including the space and acceptability status that it gave them in the records. Conclusions show that the OQLF was open to speakers’ contributions, as per the general socioterminological orientation it adopted over the last couple of decades to ensure the successful implantation of its terminology.

A scholarly approach to the development and normalization of the system of Ukrainian scientometric terms as an integral part of the national terminology system is formulated. This approach is based on the application of methods of terminology-science and on the apt term features. Practical recommendations for the translation of some English scientometric terms are given. In particular, it is recommended to translate the English term Hirsch index as the “індекс Хірша”.

У статті сформульовано науковий підхід до розвитку та унормування системи українських наукометричних термінів як невід'ємної частини національної терміносистеми. Цей підхід базується на застосуванні методів науки термінології та на ознаках вдалого терміна. Надано практичні рекомендації щодо перекладу деяких англійських наукометричних термінів. Зокрема, рекомендовано перекладати термін «Hirsch index» як «індекс Хірша».

In the article the researchers state that in contemporary Russian terminology there is no concept "author's term" and no author's term definition. Traditionally it has been accepted that the author's term is a term with a reliably known authorship, or a term named after the discoverer of a scientific phenomenon. The researchers consider this approach to be erroneous and suggest that the author's term exists only within the author's original scientific hypothesis. As this hypothesis is described by the system of interrelated concepts and terms, so there is no isolated author's term. The researchers offer their own definition of the author's term. The author's term is a special sign created within the framework of a unique scientific theory, an element of the system of concepts interconnected with other terms and concepts of original hypothesis, referred by the speakers of the language for specific purposes to a specific author's idea, representing scientific picture of the world which is not generally accepted.

The article deals with the transition of the names of the Lemko minority’s speech in Poland. There are three names to denominate this ethnolect: 1. one of the Ukrainian DIALECTs, 2. Lemko LANGUAGE, 3. regional VARIANT of the Ruthenian. The author accepts the 3rd name - regional VARIANT, considering a polycentric character of the Ruthenian language.

Knowledge patterns (KPs), i.e. markers that convey semantic relations, are frequently used to extract conceptual information from a corpus. This paper describes a semi-automatic method based on KPs for exploring the semantic relations that underlie the automatic clustering of terms in a corpus of English environmental texts. A clustering technique was applied to the semantic vectors generated by a distributional semantic model (DSM), which can estimate semantic similarity between terms. KP queries were performed in Sketch Engine to find some evidence of the semantic coherence of one of the three clusters obtained. The KP-based approach combined with a DSM and a clustering technique were used for an in-depth semantic analysis of two terms belonging to the same cluster, namely, the entity beach and the process erosion. The results showed that: (1) both beach and erosion held a limited number of relations with other terms; (2) most of their related terms also belonged to the same cluster as that of beach and erosion; and (3) the specific relations held by the terms beach and erosion depended on the type of concept they designate, namely, an entity or a process, respectively. The analysis also showed that the inclusion of clustering information to the KPs used in this paper is expected to provide the basis for the inclusion of semantic constraints (e.g., semantic categories) to KPs.

Multi-word terms pose many challenges in Natural Language Processing (NLP) because of their structure ambiguity. Although the structural disambiguation of multi-word expressions, also known as bracketing, has been widely studied, no definitive solution has as yet been found. Although linguists, terminologists, and translators must deal with bracketing problems, they generally must resolve problems without using advanced NLP systems. This paper describes a series of manual steps for the bracketing of multi-word terms (MWTs) based on their linguistic properties and recent advances in NLP. After analyzing 100 three-and four-term combinations, a set of criteria for MWT bracketing was devised and arranged in a step-by-step protocol based on frequency and reliability. Also presented is a case study that illustrates the procedure.

تعاني الأسرة المسلمة من هجوم واضح وصريح على ثوابتها، وقيمها الراسخة المستمدة بالأساس من الشريعة الإسلامية السمحة.
ويرجع استهداف الأسرة إلى الأدوار التي قامت وتقوم بها عبر العصور، وأهمها: التربية، والتناسل. ويعد هذين الدورين هما مصدر قلق القوى الاستعمارية التي طالما استهدفت الاستيلاء على مقدرات وخيرات بلادنا.
فالشعوب الإسلامية رغم تعرضها خلال عقود طويلة للغزو: العسكري، والسياسي، والاقتصادي، إلا أنها لا زالت تحتفظ بقيمها الأصيلة، ولا زالت قادرة على طرد المحتل واستعادة حريتها واستقلالها، مهما طال أمد الاحتلال. ويرجع ذلك إلى قيام الأسرة بمهمة التربية، وتوريث القيم والأخلاق والدين للأجيال الناشئة. هذا الدين الذي يعلم أبناءه التجارة الرابحة مع الخالق جل وعلا: ﴿إنَّ اللَّهَ اشْتَرَى مِنَ المُؤْمِنِينَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وأَمْوَالَهُم بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ الجَنَّةَ﴾ (التوبة:111)، وقول الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم: "من قتل دون ماله فهو شهيد، ومن قتل دون دينه فهو شهيد، ومن قتل دون دمه فهو شهيد، ومن قتل دون أهله فهو شهيد". 
أما الوظيفة الثانية للأسرة، والتي لا تقل أهمية عن الأولى، فهي وظيفة التناسل، في حين تقاوم المجتمعات الغربية الفناء باستماتة، وهو ما نص عليه تقرير الأمم المتحدة "إن أوروبا تذوب الآن كالجليد تحت الشمس" ، في مقابل تزايد معدلات السكان في الدول الإسلامية وفي المجتمعات المسلمة في الدول الغربية التي تشكلت بالأساس من المسلمين المهاجرين من بلادهم والمستوطنين في تلك الدول، بشكل ينبئ بحدوث تحول ديموجرافي كبير فيها؛ فبادرت الحكومات الغربية بتشجيع الإنجاب، وتقديم المكافآت والرواتب الشهرية الدائمة للأمهات اللواتي ينجبن الأطفال، وكلما زاد عدد الأطفال زادت الرواتب.
ومع تصاعد موجات التغريب وزيادة هيمنة الغرب على المؤسسات الدولية، واجتياح العولمة الغربية للخصوصيات الثقافية والقيمية غير الغربية -في العقدين الأخيرين من القرن العشرين- بدأ الاقتحام الغربي لحرمات الأسرة المسلمة، والانتهاك لمقدسات منظومة قيمها التي حددها الإسلام وصاغتها المرجعية الإسلامية.
وتعد هيئة الأمم المتحدة هي الأداة التي يتم من خلالها عولمة نمط الحياة الغربي على دول العالم كافة، على اختلاف ثقافاتها ومرجعياتها، من خلال إصدار اتفاقيات ووثائق دولية للمرأة وللطفل تحتوي على مصطلحات مطاطة تحتمل من المعاني والمضامين الكثير، والتلاعب في ترجمة تلك المصطلحات بحيث يتم تمريرها مع أقل قدر من المعارضة، خاصة من جانب الدول العربية.

BACKGROUND: For selection and evaluation of potential biomarkers, inclusion of already published information is of utmost importance. In spite of significant advancements in text- and data-mining techniques, the vast knowledge space of biomarkers in biomedical text has remained unexplored. Existing named entity recognition approaches are not sufficiently selective for the retrieval of biomarker information from the literature. The purpose of this study was to identify textual features that enhance the effectiveness of biomarker information retrieval for different indication areas and diverse end user perspectives. METHODS: A biomarker terminology was created and further organized into six concept classes. Performance of this terminology was optimized towards balanced selectivity and specificity.
