Ce mémoire de master propose un examen des entrepôts publics en milieux urbain et militaire durant les Haut et Bas-Empire, en Gaule Belgique et Germanie inférieure. Pour cela, il a d’abord été nécessaire d’établir un catalogue de toutes les structures interprétées comme tels. Le corpus dressé a ensuite fait l’objet d’un examen des composantes architecturales, urbaines et géographiques.

Se presenta un balance sobre la información que nos aportan los análisis arqueobotánicos para el estudio del almacenaje de cereal en época romana, que requería de unas condiciones óptimas de temperatura y humedad para su conservación. El objetivo de este artículo es cuestionar algunas propuestas de capacidad de los horrea romanos indicando los múltiples factores que condicionan no sólo la construcción de los graneros, sino también la organización y disposición del cereal almacenado. En definitiva, tratamos de plantear la Teoría del Escepticismo Cuantitativo (TEC) con el fin de abordar la problemática de los cálculos de capacidad de almacenaje desde un punto de vista arqueológico. Abstract. We present the information provided by archaeobotanical analysis for the study of cereal storage in Roman times that required optimal conditions of temperature and humidity for its preservation. The aim of this article is to question some proposals on the capacity of the Roman horrea indicating the multiple factors that determine not only their construction, but also the organization and disposition of the stored cereal. In short, we try to raise the Theory of Quantitative Skepticism (TEC) in order to address the problem of calculations of storage capacity from an archaeological point of view. Sumario. 1. Il s'agit de l'identification de monuments et de structures appartenant à une importante infrastructure portuaire située dans la région de Ras Enghela (le site archéologique le plus septentrional de la Tunisie, en exceptant l'archipel de la Galite). Cette enquête semble conforter l'idée d'une occupation littorale qui s'apparente à une agglomération portuaire qu'on propose de joindre à un toponyme antique.

Die beiden hervorstechendsten Vertreter der römischen Villenlandschaft Noricums, die beiden Palastvillen von Loig und Thalerhof, wurden in der Forschung mehrfach als Axialvillen ergänzt. Die Neuaufarbeitung der Befunde und der komplexen Forschungsgeschichte zu den beiden Altgrabungen haben das als falsch bzw. als wenig wahrscheinlich erwiesen. Während sich die Großanlagen in Salzburg und der Steiermark in einzelnen Merkmalen durchaus mit villae der Oberschicht der gallischen und germanischen Provinzen vergleichen lassen, zeigen die Gesamtanlagen ein Konzept, das sich von den klar definierbaren Axialvillen deutlich unterscheidet. Sie scheinen nähere Verwandtschaft mit den Haufenhöfen Pannoniens zu zeigen. In beiden Fällen sind die Forschungen noch nicht abgeschlossen, aber es zeigt sich bereits, dass das Schema der Axialvillen auf diese nicht anwendbar ist.
Die Villenbauten zeigen untereinander ähnliche Lösungen. Lange Gänge verbinden in beiden Fällen relativ kleine, zergliederte Zentralbauten. Bemerkenswert sind auch die in die Hauptgebäude integrierten Speicherbauten, die nicht dem Bild der Axialvillen entsprechen.

RÉSUMÉ
Les deux villae palatiales de Loig et Thalerhof qui sont les représentants les plus éminents de la villa romaine en Noricum ont été reconstruits par plusieurs chercheurs comme des villae du type axial. La réévaluation de l’ensemble des vestiges découverts et de l’histoire complexe des deux fouilles anciennes a révélé cette théorie d’être sinon fausse du moins peu probable. Tandis que les grands établissements ruraux à Salzbourg et dans la Styrie se laissent évidemment comparer par certaines particularités aux villae de la couche supérieure des provinces gauloises et germaniques, leur plan général suit à un concept qui diffère sensiblement des villae de type axial clairement définissable. Ils semblent plutôt montrer des liens plus étroits avec les villae à plan irrégulier de la Pannonie. Dans les deux cas la recherche n’est pas encore terminée, mais il est déjà évident que le schème des villae de type axial n’est pas applicable aux vestiges architecturaux dégagés à Loig et Thalerhof.
Les bâtiments des villae montrent l’un l’autre des solutions similaires. Dans les deux cas, de longs couloirs relient des bâtiments centraux relativement petits mais divisés en beaucoup de pièces. Il convient de noter aussi les bâtiments de stockage qui sont intégrés dans les bâtiments principaux. C’est une disposition qui n’est pas conforme à l’image des villae de type axial.

Systematic excavations in Brigetio have been started in
1992, providing important results concerning the civil town,
however, large scale comprehensive topographical research
on the whole territory of the Roman town has been carried out
only since 2013. The main objective of this ongoing project is
to study the topography of the canabae and legionary fortress
of Brigetio using non-destructive methods such as aerial
photography and geophysical survey. Besides non-destruc-
tive methods, excavations were also carried out both in the
canabae (2014; 2015) and the legionary fortress (2015).

Alle militärischen Entscheidungen, von grundlegenden strategischen Konzepten bis zu den kleinsten taktischen Bewegungen, wurden beeinflusst und vorbestimmt durch die Notwendigkeit, die Versorgung der Armee bereitzustellen. Raumliche Beschrankungen, die Dauer militärischer Kampagnen, die Ziele militärischer Expansion und die Festigung der Macht im feindlichen Gebiet umfassten auch das Plündern lokaler Ressourcen (frumentatio) und einen administrativen Verteilungsmechanismus der Produkte (annona militaris). Die umfangreiche Lagerung von Getreide und weiteren Nahrungsmitteln in umfangreichen Getreidespeichern und Lagerhäusern (horrea) war essenziell während der römischen Eroberung. Dieser Beitrag untersucht genauer die horrea von republikanischer bis in flavischer Zeit, deren Bautechniken von den Bedürfnissen der römischen Armee abhangen.

The present work analyses the building techniques used in the raised granaries from Hispania. It is paid specific attention to the constructive materials and techniques to store grain in good environmental conditions of temperature and humidity.

In 2015, first time in the history of excavations in Brigetio, the Department of Classical and Roman Archaeology of Eötvös Loránd University and the Klapka György Museum of Komárom carried out excavations in all three major parts of Brigetio: the civil town, the canabae and the legionary fortress.
At the site Szőny-Vásártér, the excavation was concentrated on a Roman cellar with collapsed wooden ceiling and a large pit nearby. Most important results are the complete excavation of the cellar, where a large amount of pottery vessels, a Dressel 20 amphora and a bronze cavalry parade helmet came to light. In the territory of the canabae (Szőny-Dunapart) two horrea and another stone building with uncertain function have been found. At the legionary fortress (Szőny-MOL-Kiskertek), the fieldwork was concentrated on the principia and its surroundings.
