Rare Books and Manuscripts

El propósito de este artículo es dar noticia bibliográfica de las relaciones de sucesos que informan sobre las inundaciones causadas por el río Guadalquivir en Sevilla en la primera década del siglo XVII. Estas piezas han aparecido en los últimos años en distintas bibliotecas públicas y privadas. También se edita el texto de la relación compuesta por Diego de Brizuela Corcuera, por ser el primer testimonio poético conocido de la «avenida de san Benito» en 1608.

Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies/Humanities and Social Sciences Colloquium (June 15, 2020) --- Research-led teaching means going beyond the reception of established knowledge to participation in the process of generating new knowledge. A teaching format grounded in  research-based learning not only gives students the opportunity to gain an insight into the research practice of their own discipline, but also offers them the opportunity to learn that craft, and even to contribute to a certain extent to the scholarship itself. This is the ambition of a course that I regularly offer in the winter semester, which provides Master's students in various subject areas of Medieval Studies with practical knowledge in dealing with medieval and thus essentially with handwritten books. My presentation offers an insight into the conception and the output of the previous seminar work as well as an outlook onto planned projects. The materials used for the poster exhibitions “Before Luther. German Bible translations in manuscript and print” (2017, for further information see http://www.mittelalterzentrum.uni-freiburg.de/masterstudiengang/projekte/vor-luther/index), “Convent literature. The Dominican nunnery of Adelhausen by Freiburg and their buried library” (2018, for further information see http://www.mittelalterzentrum.uni-freiburg.de/masterstudiengang/projekte/adelhausen/index) and “buochmeisterinne. Manuscripts and early printed books from the Freiburg Dominican nunnery of Adelhausen" (2020, for further information see http://portal.uni-freiburg.de/germanistische-mediaevistik/ausstellungsprojekt-buochmeisterinne) will offer illustrative evidence. The teaching format to be introduced is likely to be important for all disciplines beyond Medieval Studies that, first, depend on the exploitation of historical sources, second, also want students to participate in that work, and third, 3. are interested in making the results accomplished accessible to a wider (and not just scholarly) public audience.

"Julia è il nome, il cognome è Savorgnana;
Nacque in Italia, e tanto più felice
Perpetuo onor della nazion furlana.”

Un manoscritto padovano del ‘500 custodisce da secoli un poema inedito che celebra la bellezza “più che umana” di una giovane friulana, Giulia Savorgnan. Una storia fantastica che coinvolge gli dei dell’Olimpo in una fatale disputa sopra l’Università di Padova.
Il poema, opera del pugliese Vito Tesmofilo da Trani, viene qui pubblicato per la prima volta. Lo accompagnano le rime di un altro scrittore folgorato dal fascino di Giulia, Giovanni Cotta.
