The contribution shows the first results of ongoing research on the origins and prehistoric assumptions of the well-known Etruscan and Roman harbour of Pyrgi, an ancient Ceretan harbour in southern Etruria. In the light of recent land and submarine investigations, traces of ancient frequentations and contacts dating back to the Neolithic era are emerging when the coastal morphology and environmental characteristics of the site were very different from the current ones. The Etruscan port of Pyrgi, which continues its historical history in Roman and Medieval times, appears as the heir of one or more landing points frequented perhaps already in the Middle Neolithic. As part of this contribution, around 60 obsidian finds (waste resulting from the manufacture of arrowheads) were analyzed using the LA-ICP-MS technique (Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry). The comparison between the data obtained on the archaeological finds and the bibliographic data relating to the geological obsidians of the peri-Tyrrhenian area allowed the identification of the provenance of the finds. In particular, most of the finds can be attributed to the Aeolian area, highlighting the leading role played by the Aeolian archipelago in the development of trade of this material. Other sources of supply have been identified on the island of Palmarola and in Sardinia (Monte Arci) although with a lower incidence. The discovery of numerous findings in obsidian from overseas, which took place in the area immediately surrounding Pyrgi, offers different suggestions about the origin of the docking place, with traces of centuries-old frequentation, extended from the Neolithic to the modern era.

quasi 30 anni di distanza si porta a conoscenza il contesto insediativo individuato presso il settore settentrionale della via Umberto, nell’abitato di San Sperate (SU) ed emerso durante le indagini archeologiche operate nei primi mesi del 1976. Gli scavi eseguiti dall’allora Soprintendenza Archeologica per le Province di Cagliari ed Oristano, misero in evidenza diverse unità abitative d’età protostorica riferibili in massima parte ad una fase avanzata del Bronzo Finale e al Primo Ferro su cui andarono a sovrapporsi parzialmente strutture d’età punica, della fine del IV e degli inizi del III sec. a.C. Lo scopo di questo contributo è illustrare in maniera approfondita elementi di cultura materiale sinora inediti, provenienti da questo settore dell’abitato campidanese.

Nearly 30 years after its identification, the settlement discovered in the northern area of via Umberto in San Sperate (SU), during the archaeological investigations realized in 1976, is descripted in this contribution.The archaeological excavations carried out by the then Soprintendenza Archeologica per le Province di Cagliari and Oristano brought to light several housing facilities dated to the Protohistoric Age, which can be mostly be attributable to the advanced stage of the Final Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age. Above these structures, some constructions of the Punic Age (by the end of the IV and the III century BC) are partially superimposed. The main purpose of this paper is to throughly illustrate the material culture elements, so far unpublished, of this sector of the plain of Campidano.

Viene presentato un raro ritrovamento effettuato fortuitamente vicino alla discarica di un lembo franoso costiero dragato per l'allargamento della superficie portuale. si tratta di un frammento ceramico riconducibile ad un bicchiere campaniforme: la singolarità del ritrovamento consiste nel fatto che i motivi decorativi appaiono realizzati con impressioni di valva di cardium.

VII CAMPAGNA DI SCAVI ARCHEOLOGICI
dall’1 al 26 LUGLIO 2019
Sono aperte le iscrizioni per la VII campagna di scavi archeologici e per le attività di laboratorio presso Bruncu ‘e S’Omu di Villa Verde.
Sono invitati a partecipare alle attività sul campo (scavo stratigrafico, rilievo, primo trattamento dei dati e dei materiali) tutti gli studenti interessati.
I partecipanti dovranno provvedere alla propria attrezzatura personale di scavo: trowel, piccozza, scopetta e paletta, caschetto e scarpe antinfortunistiche, abbigliamento adatto per lo scavo, guanti e occhiali protettivi da lavoro.
Ai partecipanti sarà garantito il vitto e l’alloggio gratuito. I posti sono limitati.
Sono previsti due turni bisettimanali:
1° turno - dall’1 al 12 luglio;
2° turno - dal 15 al 26 luglio.
La domanda di partecipazione si può richiedere in Cittadella “Giovanni Lilliu” al Sig. Bruno Garau o in via esclusiva per mail al Dott. Marco Cabras all’indirizzo marcocabras@hotmail.it. Dovrà essere compilata e consegnata (anche via mail) non oltre il 27 maggio 2019.
Con la domanda verrà fornito un foglio informativo con ulteriori indicazioni.
Nella domanda si potrà indicare la preferenza per un turno, ma la suddivisione in turni sarà ad assoluta discrezione dell’organizzazione.
Si potranno indicare eventuali pratiche alimentari o allergie.
Successivamente agli esiti delle ammissioni si terrà una riunione preliminare.
