Nuragic Archaeology

Con la recente campagna archeologica 2019 si è completato lo scavo di uno dei più celebri monumenti norensi, il cosiddetto “Pozzo Nuragico”, situato tra il portico orientale delle Terme a Mare e l’ambiente C della Casa del Pozzo Antico. L’asportazione dei riempimenti che colmavano la struttura ha permesso di portarne alla luce anche il fondo, mai raggiunto in precedenza, ricavato direttamente nel banco roccioso andesitico. Lo scavo ha inoltre consentito di raccogliere dati molto significativi nell’ottica dell’interpretazione, del funzionamento e delle dinamiche di abbandono della struttura.

The stone artefact in the hut γ of the NuragheGe-nna Maria, object of this study, is part of a compound still unpublished today and dated to the Nuragic period. It was found during a 1991 excavation, revealing a situation unchanged since the collapse occurred between the 10th and 9 th century B.C., thus preserving the situation at the time of the collapse to this day. The presence of tartaric acid-the marker considered to determinate the presence of wines or products deriving from grapes-has been determined using HPLC-DAD and UHPLC-HQOMS. So the findings under examination, together with the overall evaluation of the archaeological aspects examined, suggests to positively consider the stone artifact as a "laccus" (the latin word for wine presses, still used in the Sardinian language today) for grape crushing. The internal slope of the floor of the "laccus" allowed the extraction of juice with rapid separation of juice from berry skins. The presence in Sardinia of a large number of "stone wine presses" ("palmenti" in Italian) such as that of the Nuraghe Genna Maria studied in this article, brings a contribution to their dating and confirm the existence of an oenological industry on the island in the Archaic period (9 th-10 th century B.C.). le casteddu de cucuruzzu est implanté à 711 m d'altitude sur un éperon dominant la partie septentrionale du plateau de levie, au coeur de l'Alta rocca, dans le sud de la corse. il s'agit d'un complexe dominé par une torra retranchée derrière une imposante enceinte. un habitat léger est dispersé au pied de cette muraille et plusieurs villages et sépultures sous abri sont connus dans un rayon de quelques centaines de mètres autour de la fortification. l'ensemble est fouillé à partir des années 1960 par r. Grosjean puis f. de lanfranchi. Dans le cadre d'un programme de conservation et de valorisation mené par la collectivité de corse, une fouille préventive y a été réalisée par l'inrAP en 2015. ces recherches ont permis de confirmer et compléter le schéma chronologique de structuration du casteddu. la torra est élevée au Bronze moyen alors que l'enceinte est en fonction au moins dès le début du Bronze final. Au cours du premier âge du fer, le complexe subit quelques modifications architecturales et est trans-formé en zone sépulcrale alors que les habitats ouverts (nuciaresa, Saparaccia, riccu, cruci) se développent autour de la vieille forteresse. l'état des connaissances sur ce casteddu en fait l'un des principaux jalons de définition de ce type de site pour le sud de la corse durant la seconde moitié de l'âge du Bronze. Abstract : The casteddu (hillfort) of Cucuruzzu is located on a 711 m high spur dominating the Northern part of the Levie plateau, in the heart of Alta Rocca, Southern Corsica. The focal point of this architectural complex consists of a torra (tower) entrenched within impressive walls. A few light structures are scattered at the bottom of the walls, while several villages and rock shelter graves have been discovered within a radius of a few hundred meters around the hillfort. From the 1960s on, several excavations took place ; at first, they were directed by R. La mostra è la sintesi sulla prima esposizione di tutte le sculture dell'importante complesso archeologico rinvenuto nel territorio di Cabras. La mostra, allestita nel Centro di Restauro dei Beni Culturali di Sassari dalla Soprintendenza per i beni archeologici per le province di Sassari e Nuoro nel 2011, ha illustrato al grande pubblico nella sua completezza le sculture ricomposte dopo il complesso lavoro di restauro affidato alla Società CCA, Centro di Conservazione Archeologica, di Roma. Il volume si apre con la ristampa dello studio Dal “betilo” aniconico alla statuaria nuragica del Prof. Giovanni Lilliu, scomparso in anni recenti. È parso doveroso riproporre questo che è il primo studio sulle sculture di Mont'e Prama, anche perché l'illustre studioso ha segnato un punto fermo e saldo con il quale tutti quelli che si sono occupati in seguito dell'argomento si sono dovuti confrontare. Il catalogo delle sculture è preceduto da alcuni saggi nei quali si inquadra il complesso di Mont'e Prama nell'ambito delle vicende culturali della Sardegna e si riassumono gli interventi di restauro e allestimento della mostra; un testo è poi dedicato all'impatto della scoperta sull'immaginario collettivo. L'opera, assieme ai volumi Le sculture di Mont'e Prama. Conservazione e restauro e Le sculture di Mont'e Prama. Contesto, scavi e materiali, editi in contemporanea, è l'atto conclusivo di un grande progetto finanziato nell'ambito dell'Accordo di Programma Quadro sottoscritto tra l'allora Ministero per i beni e le attività culturali e la Regione Autonoma della Sardegna nel 2005.

This paper presents the results of the study of the fragments of fired clay from the excavation of the A structure (SSUU 19 and 21) of Monti Atzei Nuragic site in the countryside of Narcau/Narcao. The particular state of these materials does not allow their assignment to specific artefacts. The study of their morphology allows us to speculate their original relevance to walls made with wattle and daub technique.

I pozzi e le fonti sacre sono stati un argomento spesso trattato dal Professor Ercole Contu durante la sua lunga carriera professionale. Anche di recente tali monumenti sono stati oggetto di un contributo presentato dallo stesso Professore insieme a Riccardo Cicilloni in occasione del Convegno "Notizie e scavi della Sardegna nuragica", tenutosi a Serri nel 2017. Seguendo questo filone di studi si presentano due monumenti pressoché inediti dal territorio di Villa Verde: in particolare un pozzo sacro ed una probabile fonte. Tali monumenti, benché ad oggi di difficile lettura, si presentano di grande interesse per la relazione con l'esteso villaggio di Bruncu 'e S'Omu, a cui erano strettamente collegati. Il villaggio di Bruncu 'e S'Omu è stato oggetto di scavi fin dagli anni '80 dello scorso secolo, a cura della competente Soprintendenza Archeologica, ed è attualmente indagato da parte del Dipartimento di Lettere, Lingue e Beni Culturali dell'Università di Cagliari. Tale stretto rapporto trova confronti in vari siti del Bronzo Finale della Sardegna ed in particolare, fatte le dovute proporzioni, con il sito di Santa Vittoria di Serri. I due monumenti di Villa Verde, di cui si presentano i rilievi, potevano costituire l'area sacra pertinente al villaggio stesso.

ABSTRACT - Wells and sacred sources were a topic often discussed by Prof. Ercole Contu during his long professional career. Also recently these monuments have been the subject of a contribution presented by the same Professor Contu together with Riccardo Cicilloni on the occasion of the "Notizie e scavi della Sardegna nuragica" Conference, held in Serri in 2017. Following this line of studies there are two monuments, almost unpublished, from the territory of Villa Verde: in particular a sacred well and a probable source. This paper deals with the resistivity continuous surveys on extensive area carried out at the Mont'e Prama archaeological site, in Sardinia (Italy). From 2013 to 2015, new research was performed using both non-destructive surveys and traditional archaeological excavations. The measurements were done in order to find geophysical anomalies related to unseen buried archaeological remains and to define the spatial extension of the ancient necropolis. The electrical resistivity of soils was measured by means of the Automated Resistivity Profiling (ARP©) system. This multi-pole method provided high-resolution maps of electrical resistivity in the whole investigated area using a computer-assisted acquisition tool, towed by a small vehicle. Through this acquisition layout, a surface of 22,800 m 2 was covered. The electrical resistivity data were derived in real time with centimetric horizontal precision through a differential GPS positioning system. Thanks to the simultaneous acquisition of ARP and GPS data, the rigorous georeferencing of the tridimensional experimental dataset was made possible, as well as the reconstruction of a detailed Digital Terrain Model. Here, the experimental results are analyzed and critically discussed by means of the integration of the results obtained by a high-resolution prospection performed with a multi-channel Ground Penetrating Radar system and taking into account other information derived from previous geological and archaeological studies. Geophysical results, jointly with topographic reconstruction, clearly permitted the identification of more interesting areas where future archaeological investigations could be focused.
