Analizamos el ensayo mirando temas asociados a los estereotipos raciales, el mestizaje, y a la formulación del discurso nacionalista. The urban transformations taking place throughout the region of former Yugoslavia are best exemplified in the capitals of the once-communist federation’s successor states. The recent urban developments in the cities of Belgrade, Zagreb, and Sarajevo illustrate the realities of contemporary societies in the Balkans and the socio-political shifts of the pe- riod of transition. The built environments of the newly capitalist countries serve as exag- gerated, yet emblematic examples of nation-building projects and their deep entwinement with economic processes unfolding throughout post-communist South-Eastern Europe. However, the links between the post-socialist urban and national identity, as well as poli- tics and economy, remain understudied.
In this paper, I enquire into the present-day urban transformations of Sarajevo, Bel- grade, and Zagreb. I examine these cities within the context of post-Yugoslav economic and political space, exploring the particularities of the creation of built environments that no longer exist on the Yugoslav periphery, but now are at the centre of newly democratic societies. Through the investigation of the political, economic, and architectural particularities of Belgrade Waterfront and Zagreb Manhattan development projects, and Sarajevovo City Center commercial complex, I examine the influx of foreign funds – mainly from the Middle East – and their impacts on the construction of regional urban centres. I argue that the modern-day capitals of post-Yugoslav states are developing as products of the interpolation of a communist past into the capitalist present characterised by the perpetual quest for “Europe”, and in line with the broader socio-political and architectural trends in Eastern and South-Eastern Europe. In post-Yugoslavia, urban practices are problematically interwoven with politics: the cities simultaneously serve as displays of geopolitical change and catalysts for social transformation in post-socialist societies.

This article presents an overview of the role of the media in nationalism and identity-shaping in post-crisis societies experiencing conflict, focusing on the impact of the recent economic crisis on diversity in political news reporting. The research is based on a time series analysis (2000–2019) of diversity in traditional and online political news reporting, framed by a thematic analysis of journalists’ interviews. Cyprus is used as a case-study, as an example of a ‘divided’ country. Findings suggest that news diversity in societies experiencing conflict significantly reduced after the economic crisis in traditional media but increased in online media. At the same time, representations of nationalism in the news media seem to be taking alternative directions. The study challenges the way(s) in which media history is read in post-crisis societies experiencing conflict where the media play a significant role in assessing notions of togetherness as opposed to images of separatism.

Even though he said, "Being Turkish is my deepest source of trust, and the most extensive  source of pride," And united us by saying, "Lucky are those who say they are Turkish," the persecution going on in the country today is being kept alive by those who are ashamed of their Turkishness and stateless Turkish enemies. I have to say that our vow that we've been repeating with great pride and tears in our eyes, shouting our Turkishness since 1933,  is unfortunately banned. The same Turkish enemy mentality is removing one of your best quotes, “HOW HAPPY IS THE ONE WHO SAYS I AM A TURK”  from the places where it is written, whenever it can and trying to erase it from the memory of our noble nation.       

Turkism is the name of Turkish Nationalism. If one asks what the Turkism is, who the Turk is,
It can be explained as “those who feel themselves Turks, can sacrifice themselves for Turkey, Turkishness and Turkish Union, do beneficial things for Turkey, Turkism and Turkish Unity and endeavor for this purpose, who can shout with his whole existence “how happy am I to say I am Turk”  wherever they live, be it Turkey or Antarctica”.

این یادداشت نکته‌سنجی است درباره جلد اول کتاب اصغر شیرازی با عنوان ایرانیت، ملیت، قومیت (انتشارات جهان کتاب، ۱۳۹۵، ۸۲۲ صفحه‌ و ۷۷۰ نسخه؛ کتاب در فاصله کوتاهی به چاپ دوم رسید.) نگارنده این سطور در یادداشت دیگری برخی از مهم‌ترین مباحث کتاب را مرور کرده و در این یادداشت قرار است بیش از هرچیزی دو بعد دیگر از مباحث کتاب را بشکافد؛ یکی روایت شیرازی از ایرانگرایی آمرانه رضاشاهی و دیگری نگاه او به ترک‌گرایی، و به تعبیر خودش ترکیسم و پانترکیسم.

The recent events in Ukraine have stirred up a very emotional debate regarding the ideological, historical and ethno-cultural roots of Ukraine’s far right Nationalist movement. This research paper will put particular emphasis on the resurgence of nationalism in Ukraine during the Soviet era and its transition during the collapse of the Soviet state, as well as on the pre-conditions pertaining to that process. Furthermore, this paper will take a closer look at the main organizations that constituted the backbone of the nationalist movement in Ukraine during the 1991-2014 period.
