The recording of megalithic art on menhirs in Western Iberia used to be performed through direct tracing. The use of photographic techniques represented an important advance in the interpretation of some of the most important prehistoric sites in this wide region, and also in the structuring of archaeological narratives. With the development of photogrammetry, the possibilities have improved considerably, enabling the recording of decorations not visible to the naked eye. In this paper, we present a new protocol to highlight the engravings on eroded surfaces, based on High Performance Computing and advanced algorithms for 3D mesh calculation. This tailored protocol has rendered expressive visual results that have succeeded in recording one of the most exceptional cromlechs in Western Europe: Almendres (Portugal). The results have proved the efficiency of the method and the need to revisit the classic megalithic sites.

L’étude des sépultures mégalithiques et des peuples bâtisseurs connaît actuellement un nouvel essor en Europe, au travers, notamment, d’un nouveau regard favorisé par le développement de nouvelles méthodes d’analyses physiques ou numériques. Étonnamment, l’Occitanie, qui est désormais la région la plus riche en mégalithes et en dolmens « simples » de France et d’Europe, n’a bénéficié que de peu de recherches à grande échelle. Or, ces mégalithes constituent dans certains secteurs les seuls témoins connus des populations de la fin du Néolithique et on ne peut encore distinguer l’apparition et l’évolution de ces monuments mégalithiques entre le IVe et le IIIe.
Dans le cadre de deux ans de Master, d’une prospection thématique et d’une thèse en cours, nous avons développé une approche systémique multiscalaire des sépultures mégalithiques. Celle-ci a pour but d’aborder la complexification des sociétés de la fin du IVe et des IIIe millénaires avant notre ère, à travers l’étude du projet architectural de ces mégalithes. Ce projet est alors, à l’image de toute production, ordonné par des règles et sujet à des choix d’ordre technique, culturel ou symbolique. Pour chaque site, il s’agit alors de caractériser les choix effectués par les bâtisseurs en termes d’architecture (matériaux, agencement des blocs, technique), et d’implantation (topographie, visibilité, organisation du territoire), tout en y intégrant le réexamen de certaines collections issues de fouilles anciennes (dépôts mobiliers, anthropologiques, nouvelles datations). Le but de cette approche est donc de distinguer les différents choix architecturaux effectués par les bâtisseurs néolithiques dans le Sud-ouest de la France et de les mettre en regard, à plus large échelle, avec les traditions techniques atlantiques et méditerranéennes où les contextes sont mieux définis, pour pouvoir proposer des modèles évolutifs architecturaux.

En octubre de 2015 el azar quiso que durante un estudio preliminar de impacto arqueológico, se localizase una estructura funeraria del neolítico que desde entonces, ha sido objeto de estudio en diferentes intervenciones arqueológicas. Además se ha convertido en el eje vertebrador de un proyecto más ambicioso de investigación, conservación y puesta en valor, que desde el Ayuntamiento de San Martín del Rey Aurelio (Asturias) se está promoviendo.

Human remains recovered at the Ardines massif account for a small but diverse assemblage. Their deposit within the caves, their location in relation to the decorated areas, as well as their direct dating, enable us to make some reflections. Their links with other funerary contexts in Iberia and Europe are evident, as well as their relations with cave art and previous human occupations from the Upper Paleolithic. The contempora-neity of these burials with the last phase of paintings dated at the Tito Bustillo cave, shows that symbols used during the Cantabrian Upper Paleolithic were still in use by hunter-gatherers of this region during the 8th mil-lennium cal BC. A certain tendency towards resiliency seems evident with regards to social dynamics inferred from other burials and chronologies from other Iberian regions during the Mesolithic.

En este artículo se presentan tres crómlechs excavados en la Sierra de Aralar. Ondarre I tiene un diámetro de siete metros y está conformado por 35 testigos. El túmulo de tierra tiene 45 cm de altura. En su zona central había 4 losetas de caliza, y una pequeña cubeta con huesos incinerados, pertenecientes a dos individuos y abundantes carbones.
A seis metros de distancia está Ondarre II, que tiene un diámetro de 4,5 metros y conserva sólo 15 de los testigos. En el sondeo se han localizado pequeñas manchas de carbón en el centro y algún sílex.
El crómlech de Ondarre III tenía un diámetro de unos 9 metros, pero está muy incompleto, ya que conserva sólo cuatro testigos. Junto a sus
bases y en la zona central se hallaron carbones. Uno de ellos fue reutilizado como haustarri (hito ganadero), según un documento del siglo XIX. Las fechas radiocarbónicas los sitúan en el Bronce Final.
