Με αφορμή σεμινάριο γονέων που έλαβε χώρα σε σχολικό συγκρότημα στην Μέση Αγυιά Πάτρας, επιχειρείται από την ομάδα μας μια δοκιμή συμβιωτικής ανάδρασης ανάμεσα στο απενεργοποιημένο βιομηχανικό τοπίο της πόλης και την εικονογραφία των αδρανών δημόσιων κοινόχρηστων ή ελεύθερων χώρων της, τις παιδικές χαρές της γειτονιάς. Σε αυτή τη γειτονιά, τη δική μας, σημαντικό ρόλο παίζει το αδρανές πια βιομηχανικό συγκρότημα ζυθοποιίας Μάμου, κενό εδώ και δεκαετίες αν και άλλοτε κυρίαρχο στη δραστηριότητα των κατοίκων.

Η κατάσταση των δημόσιων κοινόχρηστων υπαίθριων χώρων επιδεινώνεται καθώς η συνεχιζόμενη ελληνική κρίση συρρικνώνει τις δημόσιες δαπάνες. Πώς είναι οι παιδικές χαρές της Αγυιάς γύρω από τον Μάμο; Πώς σχετίζεται ο Μάμος με τη γειτονιά; Αρκετοί κάτοικοι της περιοχής αγνοούν ότι κινούνται πέριξ ενός κάποτε γνωστού ελληνικού ζυθοποιείου, κι ας περιφέρονται δίπλα από τα ερείπια ή τις αποθήκες που επέζησαν κι είναι ακόμα σε χρήση.

Η έρευνα που παρουσιάζεται στοχεύει στη δυναμική αυτή διάσταση της παιδικής χαράς ως του κατεξοχήν δημόσιου χώρου που δύναται να χρησιμοποιηθεί για να εκπαιδευόμαστε όλοι στην τοπική ιστορία με μια συλλογική νοοτροπία. Φιλοδοξεί να αποκρυπτογραφήσει τους γρίφους του χώρου, ώστε να του επιτραπεί να μας αφηγηθεί την ιστορία της πόλης. Και να μας εκπαιδεύσει...

This is the text accompanying an exhibit and sale of my quilts, now on display at the Country Store and Farm, Vashon Island, WA.  It is on display from 10/10 to 11/5/19, and five of the eleven quilts are for sale. Camden has a long heritage of bands and musical groups in the local community. Playing music has been one of the longest surviving voluntary sector activities in the town. Banding in the Camden area
has a rich history of involvement by amateur musicians who held a variety of paid-day jobs. These folk contributed a large number of hours at community concerts, military parades, remembrance ceremonies, fetes, garden parties, and a host of other community events.

Turkish vernacular furniture had its characteristic qualities as being mobile and lightweight yielding a multifunctional domestic space practice in a sustainable manner. In the Westernization process in the late 19th century Ottoman society, consuming neo-classical Western furniture became a status symbol for upper classes yielding the abandonment of local furniture. After the establishment of Turkish Republic in 1923, modern furniture was consumed as a sign of modern identities. Whether the style was neo-classic or modern, these furniture was designed and produced on the basis of emulation of Western trends and counterparts. In the context of Turkish design profession and the furniture industry, the design potential of the vernacular furniture like floor tables, built-in closets and sedir has hardly been recognized and evaluated. In this study, the withdrawal of the vernacular furniture and of the relevant traditional use practices is considered as missing a rich source.  The inquiry is about envisioning possible contemporary Turkish design if the vernacular system were taken as a prime source or if contemporary units had evolved from the vernacular. One of the important cases is Turkish Modern Concept Store based in both San Francisco and Istanbul. Custom daybeds and multifunctional benches are important products of this company which is inspired from vernacular by texture, form and function. Another case to be discussed is a global one to improve insights: Mah Jong Sofa produced by the French furniture company, Roche Bobois. Designer of Mah Jong Sofa, Kenzo Takada took inspiration from ancient kimonos used in the Noh Theatre, re-interpreting their patterns and colours to create fine and sophisticated harmonies. Taking cues from a prominent global case and a local example, the path of Turkish vernacular design to be renovated and modernized will be discussed thoroughly.

Catubig is one of the earliest settlements already established prior to the coming of the Spaniards and the evangelization of the island of Samar. Not between until 1596 to 1597 when a Jesuit missionary and a lay-brother founded Catubig and planted the first seed of Christianity for the region of Ibabao, the olden name of the northern and eastern portion of Samar island. This article will discuss the historical development of the town and the progress of the Christian faith covering the period from 1597, that is the start-off of the Christianization of the town until 1900 when it became one of the established parishes under the Bishopric of Cebu and later by the Diocese of Calbayog.

This paper will review the developments of the church of Catubig from different historical periods covering from 16th to early 20th century utilizing various Spanish sources available in public domain.

Szársomlyó vára és birtokosai a középkor századaiban meghatározó szerepet játszottak Villány és Siklós vidéke, sőt az egész dél-baranyai térség történetének alakulásában. Ugyan a festői környezetben - és kiemelkedően értékes természetvédelmi területen - fekvő vár régészeti feltárása híján csak az okiratos és elbeszélő forrásokra, illetve a néphagyományokra támaszkodhatunk, mégis érdemes összefoglalni a vár történetét.

Dolgozatomban az 1990 utáni baranyai irodalmi termés alapján kísérelem meg bemutatni, hogy milyen szervezeti és módszertani problémákkal állnak szemben a helytörténeti kutatások, és milyen lehetőségek kínálkoznak ezek orvoslására. A dolgozat célja, hogy szakmailag is értékelhető körképet adjon Baranya helytörténeti irodalmáról, egyúttal néhány módszertani és tematikai ajánlással szolgáljon a műkedvelő történetbúvárok számára, és felhívja a figyelmüket néhány típushibára.

Between a promo gift, a manifesto and a prayer book: local jubilee publications
Jubilee books published by small local societies or institutions are often despised as neither artful nor meaningful amateur enterprises. However, as belonging to an epideictic genre, they can have a very important social function of building group's identity around certain values. This paper aims to explore what values are considered essential by local communities, how their worldview is expressed and how these declarations correspond with the performative character of jubilee books.

Przedmiotem tego artykułu są relacje między centrum a peryferiami w narracjach wojennych z regionu podwarszawskiego. Analizowane narracje należą do twórczości "oddolnej" (obejmują pamiętniki, wspomnienia, monografie pisane przez historyków amatorów, książki wydawane przez małe, lokalne wydawnictwa, strony internetowe lokalnych instytucji oraz narracje wizualne obecne w przestrzeni miast). Główne poruszane kwestie to: czy relacje między centrum a przedmieściami są opisywane w kategoriach binarnych opozycji, czy raczej na zasadzie stopniowania? Czy "peryferyjni" narratorzy używają strategii mimikry wobec centrum, czy też raczej buntują się przeciw niemu? Artykuł omawia także trzy metaforyczne obrazy pojawiające się w podmiejskich narracjach i wyrażające postawę wobec centrum: obraz Warszawy jako wulkanu, jako pustego środka okręgu i jako góry lub wieży rzucającej cień na okolicę. Słowa kluczowe: Warszawa, powstanie warszawskie, przedmieścia, metafora.

W przedstawionym artykule przeanalizowano w jaki sposób książki i broszury o małych podwarszawskich miejscowościach, wydawane przez lokalne instytucje, organizacje lub osoby prywatne wykorzystują retoryczną tradycję laudatio urbis i jak prezentują konkretne loci communes. Szczególnym przypadkiem są teksty, w których-zgodnie z przedstawioną przez Platona w Meneksenosie ideą "chwalenia Ateńczyków w Atenach"-autor buduje pochwałę miasta przede wszystkim na użytek jego mieszkańców, nierzadko kosztem prawdy czy aktualnej sytuacji. Słowa kluczowe: literatura lokalna, laudatio urbi, loci communes, Meneksenos, region podwarszawski.
Wie loben die Kleinstädte bei Warschau sich selbst? Die Rhetorik einer lokalen Stadtlaudatio Abstrakt: Im vorliegenden Beitrag werden die durch verschiedene Institutionen, Vereine oder private Personen herausgegebenen Bücher und Broschüren analysiert, in denen gemäß der klassischen rhetorischen Tradition des laudatio urbis lokale loci communes dargestellt werden. Besondere Fälle bilden diejenigen Texte, die-so wie in Platons Meneksenos "Athener in Athen gelobt" werden-den Lob der eigenen Stadt für ihre Bewohner kreieren, wobei nicht selten die Wahrheit bzw. Aktualität außer Acht gelassen werden.
Books and brochures about small towns from Warsaw suburban region, published by local authorities or institutions, are presented here as following in many ways the model of classical laudationes urbium. Th e author describes various genres in which laudations of towns are present and traces loci communes used in such publications. Plato's Menexenus is referred to as a text refl ecting on 'praising Athenians in Athens'-a situation in which a rhetor has to build the praise of a town according to the wishes of its inhabitants, sometimes at a cost of truth and actuality.

Villány napjainkban dinamikusan fejlődő város, nemzetközileg is ismert és kedvelt turisztikai célpont, a szűkebb régió, sőt a megye egyik meghatározó gazdasági és kulturális centruma. Ezért különösen meglepő, hogy történetéről mindeddig kisszámú részlettanulmány és összefoglaló munka látott napvilágot. A kötet célja, hogy a teljesség igényével mutassa be a város és környezete történetének alakulását, a már megjelent szakirodalmakra, modern kiadásban megjelent forrásokra, valamint számos levéltári adatra, sajtóanyagra és személyes emlékezésekre építve.
