The cohomology jump loci of a space X are of two basic types: the characteristic varieties, defined in terms of homology with coefficients in rank one local systems , and the resonance varieties, constructed from information encoded in either the cohomology ring, or an algebraic model for X. We explore here the geometry of these varieties and the delicate interplay between them in the context of closed, orientable 3-dimensional manifolds and link complements. The classical multivariable Alexander polynomial plays an important role in this analysis. As an application, we derive some consequences regarding the formality and the existence of finite-dimensional models for such 3-manifolds.

The increasing interest of nanowhiskers for technological applications has led to the observation of the zinc-blend/wurtzite polytypism. Polytypic nanowhiskers could also play, by their characteristics, an important role on the design of optical and electronic devices. In this work we propose a theoretical model to calculate the electronic properties of polytypic zinc-blend/wurtzite structure in the vicinity of the band edges.

Individualism is, according to the Encyclopedia Britannica, a social and political philosophy that emphasizes the worth and dignity of singular human beings over and above the various groups they belong to. A rather popular and uncontroversial view of individualism is that it “lies at the very core of American culture.”[1] Individualism, however, is a fragile ideology, and it is threatened continually by various group-based ideologies that put other standards above the freedom of the individual. The tension created in the opposition between individual and group therefore is a source of terror utilized in many texts.

This essay examines convictions about the importance of speech and activity with reference to an ideal of change, where change may be understood in at least two ways: first, as a process by which persons or things become new or different in reality, and, second, as a grandiose fantasy in which change represents an end in itself and is aligned with ideals such as eternality, centrality, and significance. The essay compares analytic and political situations without suggesting that analytic and political arenas are identical, or that individuals or groups involved in either sort of activity ought to behave identically. Rather, it maintains that much of the dedication to speech and activity relies on a fantasy of change that may be orthogonal, if not antithetical, to a goal shared by psychoanalysis and progressive politics: the facilitation of the capacity to be, to act, and to generate meaningful change for the self and others.

Consciousness is considered as a fundamental property of the universe in quantum theories of consciousness. We consider our physical universe as appeared by the phase-like transition of the energy waves, unfolded from 10 dimensions. The human brain and its mental aspects are associated with classical brain physiology and are also part of a quantum physical universe. We consider the whole universe being multi-dimensional, of (4 + D)-dimensional Friedmann-Robertson-Walker-type (FRW), with complex scale factor “R + i RI”, where “R” is the scale factor corresponding to the usual 4-dimensional universe, and “i RI” is that of D-dimensional space-time. It is found that for D = 6 (i.e. in 10 dimensions), the Wheeler-DeWitt equation is symmetric under the exchange RI ↔ R. Mathematically, when D = 6, it is RI = R and the physical universe starts. The universe starts with the symmetry breaking of group SU(11). We assume that the extra-dimensions “D” are associated with a mental-consciousness or that of the individual mind-consciousness is (partly) an expression of a universal mind-consciousness through holonomic communication with quantum fields. “Consciousness” is created by the electromagnetic force in the framework of SU(6) U(1), whereas “mind” is created by the framework of SU(2)  U(1). The human brain is conceived as an interfacing organ that not only produces mind and consciousness, but also receives information. The brain or parts of it are conceived as an “interference hologram” of incoming data and already existing ones (a “personal universe”), equivalent to the subject’s memory. If properly analyzed, information about the outer world can be distilled, with the analyzer being cerebral electrophysiology.

In his book “Critica della mente innocua: gruppo e legame sociale in Bion”,
psychoanalyst and president of the Critical Psychoanalysis Society, Adriano Voltolin,
examines Wilfred Bion’s observations about the role of group processes in group dynamics in light of the philosophical tradition of social critical theory. More speciically, Voltolin focuses on three basic assumptions about groups, – dependency, ight-light and pairing – in order to examine the underlying meaning of several historical
and actual facts. According to a certain Bionian line of thought, in every group, two
groups are actually present; the work group, and the basic assumption group: when a
group adopts any one of these basic assumptions, it interferes with the task the group
is attempting to accomplish. Voltolin’s analysis shows that, in contemporary times we
are presently experiencing the decline of the specialised work group, obscured by tacit
underlying assumptions which the unconscious mentality of the group is based on.

The solution-focused therapy (SFT) is a kind of brief therapy which states that in order to solve a problem, it's not necessary to understand it. Starting with the establishment of concrete goals, therapist and client search for exceptions to the problem and for the client's strength and resources which may help him build a more satisfying life. Considering the richness of this therapeutic model, this paper aims to analyze the possibilities of using SFT in group contexts. The review of the literature points to the use of SFT in different patient groups. In order to discuss these ideas, we analyzed two important models in this field: Metcalf's and Sharry's. Both authors use theoretical and technical concepts of SFT in group contexts and also present innovative contributions. The analysis of their view of group work indicates that Metcalf considers the group in an individualist perspective while Sharry takes it as an entity in its own right, looking for group cohesion and goals. A critical analysis of the literature points to a technicist bias on these models, and, consequently, a need of theoretical elaboration to make its contribution effective in the group work field.

Psikoloji bilimi insan davranışlarını incelerken bireyi toplumsal bağlamından ayrı olarak düşünemez çünkü bireyin yalnız olarak gerçekleştirdiği davranışları ile grup içerisindeki davranışları farklılık gösterebilmektedir. Bu nedenle, bireyin grup içerisindeki davranışları birey hakkında önemli çıkarımlarda bulunmamızı sağlamaktadır. 

Yerli ve yabancı alanyazın incelendiğinde "Grup Dinamikleri ve Süreçleri” ile ilgili sınırlı sayıda akademik kaynağın olması beni bu kitabı yazmaya yönlendirmiştir. Kitabın yazılmasındaki amaç az da olsa yerli alanyazındaki bu eksikliği gidermeye çalışmaktır. Bu amaç kapsamında kitap 8 temel bölüm ve her bir bölüm kendi içerisinde alt bölümlerden oluşmaktadır.
