Geosites

Resumo: O Parque Nacional Serra da Capivara, fundado em 1979 e sagrado Patrimônio Mundial da UNESCO em 1991, foi demarcado com o intuito de proteger a biodiversidade local e o vasto patrimônio arqueológico, que oferece evidências da ocupação primitiva da América do Sul no Pleistoceno. A área, em clima semiárido e solo pouco propício para a agricultura, exibe índices de desenvolvimento social muito baixos. O turismo motivado pelo PNSC seria uma alternativa para o desenvolvimento sustentável, não fosse a falta de investimentos do governo em sua manutenção. Baseando-se essencialmente nos potenciais de uso turístico e educativo-sem, no entanto, olvidar o valor científico-, foi feito um inventário e análise de 30 sítios geológicos, localizados dentro e fora dos limites do parque. Espera-se que, aliados ao valor arqueológico do local, e devidamente valorizados e interpretados, esses sítios adicionem valor geológico à área, alavancando o geoturismo e auxiliando o desenvolvimento sustentável na região. Abstract: The Serra da Capivara National Park (SCNP) was founded in 1979 to protect the local biodiversity and archaeological heritage. Its archaeological sites, which provide evidence of the early human occupation of South America, motivated its status of UNESCO's World Heritage as of 1991. However, its establishment displaced families (many without compensation), and prevented them from the culturally-based use of the local natural resources. Under the semi-arid climate with long droughts and unfavorable soil for agriculture, the region exhibits low social development indices. Tourism motivated by SCNP could boost sustainable development, as much as deterioration of the park could be prevented, if the government invested more. In order to help boost tourism in the area with the addition of the geological value, an inventory of geological sites was carried out, resulting in a list of 30 sites, within and outside the limits of the park. The inventory mainly considered the tourist and educational potentials of the sites, but the scientific value was not neglected whenever it stood out. Provided the sites in the inventory are properly managed and promoted, they might provide a much-needed additional value that will help increase tourism in the region of Serra da Capivara, thus enhancing sustainable development there as well.

A relação entre o homem e o substrato geológico pode ser observada na paisagem que pode revelar as diferentes maneiras de apropriação cultural dos elementos da geodiversidade. Os produtos dessa relação registram, em alguns casos, trechos importantes da história humana, tornando-os patrimônios geoculturais de grande valor histórico, científico e turístico. O processo de desenvolvimento do Brasil colonial e imperial teve papel preponderante na produção do patrimônio geocultural de Minas Gerais, guardando traços de um período em que a geodiversidade ocupou função relevante para o crescimento econômico regional. Este período, conhecido como ciclo do ouro, deixou na paisagem vestígios da mineração de metais preciosos e da metalurgia em ruínas de construções rudimentares e coloniais. Estes vestígios integram significativamente a paisagem da Serra da Calçada, localizada na porção noroeste do Quadrilátero Ferrífero, importante pólo minerário nacional. A fim de compreender melhor o potencial geoturístico destas áreas, foi proposto um método de quantificação desses elementos que integram o patrimônio geoculturalbuscando auxiliar na tomada de decisões relacionada à sua valorização e à geoconservação. I ntr odução O desenvolvimento da humanidade foi responsável pela produção de uma paisagem cultural que, ao longo da evolução humana na Terra, deixou vestígios da apropriação de elementos da natureza para construção de bens culturais de variados períodos históricos. Estas impressões culturais, que segundo Santos (1978, 2004), compõe a morfologia da paisagem, onde os produtos de diferentes momentos históricos se cristalizam no espaço geográfico criando formas-objeto ou rugosidades. O evidente aspecto da ação humana sobre a crosta terrestre é principalmente a modificação do relevo. Peloggia (2005) apud Pereira (2010) aponta que as intervenções na paisagem natural tiveram início com o domínio do fogo e se intensificaram com o surgirmento das civilizações, provenientes da Revolução Neolítica. Na geologia esta ocasião marca o início do Tecnógeno, período em que o homem passou a exercer forte influência na dinâmica externa do planeta. Para Pereira (2010) no Tecnógeno a espécie humana passa a ser um agente geológico, disseminando um estilo de vida urbanizado, construindo paisagens com significativas transformações na superfície terrestre. Assim como ressaltam Nascimento e Scifoni (2010) & Bento (2012), a relação sociedade-natureza é responsável pela produção de dois tipos de objetos culturais que se expressam na paisagem: os materiais, que constituem as cidades, as edificações e as plantações; e os imateriais, correspondentes às festividades, crenças, lendas, tradições, aos símbolos, entre outros, sendo ambos concebidos por meio de uma construção social e histórica. The promontory of Monte Gallo (Palermo, NW Sicily) is a spectacular site where Upper Triassic- Eocene carbonate platform rocks and Quaternary continental to marine deposits are well exposed. A Mesozoic-Paleogene rock succession allows the potential visitor to easily detect the features and the evolution of the Panormide carbonate platform, a shallow-water paleogeographic domain of the Southern Tethyan margin. Quaternary deposits, as well many landforms, enable the visitor to directly identify the interplay between climate changes, tectonics and fluctuations of marine level that occurred during the Quaternary Period. A detailed geological map (1:15,000 mapping scale) is presented, accompanied by a stratigraphic correlation of logged sections and morpho-stratigraphic and tectonic schemes of the area, aimed at highlighting the geological heritage of Monte Gallo in support of the establishment of a Geosite. The Geological Map and relevant explanatory notes should be used as cartographic support and as a field trip guide for possible geological itineraries.

ABSTRACT PROPOSTA DI UN GEOSITO RIASSUNTO Vengono presentati i risultati di uno studio multidisciplinare condotto nell'area de La Montag-nola (Sicilia centrale). L'area indagata presenta peculiari aspetti scientifici e culturali. Essa costitu-isce un settore rappresentativo della geologia e della geomorfologia dei Monti Sicani. In questo set-tore si riconoscono: successioni di carbonati di mare profondo, del Giurassico-Eocene (successione Imerese) e le coperture clastico-torbiditiche dell'Oligo-Miocene (flysch Numidico); successioni di depositi clastico-evaporitici di bacino di wedge-top, del Miocene Pliocene; culminazioni anticli-naliche e fronte SO delle unità Imeresi sovrascorse sulle unità Sicane; forme fluviali di approfondi-mento, forme strutturali derivate, forme gravitative e forme di ruscellamento diffuso o concentrato, quali tipiche morfologie dei rilievi collinari della Sicilia centrale. Dal punto di vista speleologico e carsologico, l'elemento più significativo presente nell'area indagata, che costituisce anche l'emer-genza di maggiore interesse, è la Grotta dell'Acqua Fitusa. Questa grotta è costituita da un sistema di cavità sotterranee la cui genesi è dovuta alla risalita di acque termali profonde di natura sulfurea. Al suo interno sono stati inoltre ritrovati resti scheletrici ed industriali di Homo sapiens, che con-feriscono a questa cavità un importante valore antropologico; così come di sicuro interesse antropo-logico è la Rocca del Vruaro, con i suoi reperti industriali. La totalità dei dati acquisiti mostra quin-di un'area con elementi geologici e antropologici significativi, di una certa importanza scientifica e culturale, tali da giustificare la proposizione di un Geosito. The present study aims to identify the degree of knowledge with regard to the Moroccan volcanic inheritance known as "geosites". More precisely, it has to do with those of the Middle Atlas with the school students and the future teachers of the Sciences of Life and Earth (SVT). It also involves their reflection on the likely means to make known and to share this geological inheritance with the target population and with the general public. This, however, is aimed at sensitizing its conservation for pedagogical, scientific, and ecotouristic awareness. In order to answer our study's objectives, we administered an anonymous questionnaire to 232 school students in 2nd year of the secondary school of the provincial delegations of education of Meknes and Sale, and to 26 future teachers of the SVT of the regional center for education and training professions in Meknes, Morocco. The results of the research showed that these volcanoes are unknown among respondents with proportions of 80% among school students and 8% among future teachers.

The paper deals with issues which are raised by the approaches of experimental history, and are still widely discussed by historiography of science and technology. Following the critical analysis of those controversial matters which have been involving this historiographical method since the Sixties, the article suggests some innovative applications of the experimental history to Earth sciences. The methodology, as defined below, could play an important role to plan interesting activities for geoconservation as well as improving the geological heritage.

Güneydoğu Anadolu Bölgesi‘nin Orta Fırat Bölümü ile Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi‘nin Yukarı Fırat Bölümü sınırları içerisinde kalan Nemrut Dağı, sahip olduğu kültürel, tarihi ve arkeolojik kaynak değerlerin korunması amacıyla 7.12.1988 tarihinde milli park ilan edilmiştir. Nemrut Dağı ve çevresi jeolojik ve jeomorfolojik açıdan da oldukça karmaşık bir yapı gösterir. Sahada, monoklinal yapı, kıvrımlı yapı, faylı yapı, flüvyal topografya ve karst topografyasına ilişkin yer şekillerinin yanı sıra farklı jeolojik zamanlarda oluşmuş, litolojik özellikleri birbirinden farklı formasyonlar yer alır. Alan bütün bu özellikleriyle yer bilimleri açısından adeta bir laboratuar özelliği göstermekte olup jeoturizm açısından oldukça önemli potansiyele sahiptir.  Bu çalışmada, Nemrut Dağı Milli Parkı ve çevresinde jeoturizm açısından oldukça önemli olan jeosit karakterindeki alanların ve buraların ziyaret edilmesinde kullanılabilecek ideal güzergâhların (Jeoyollar) belirlenerek, sahanın jeoturizm potansiyelinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmaktadır.

Mount Nemrut is located in the between Middle Euphrates Sub-region of the South East Anatolia region and Upper Euphrates Sub-region of the East Anatolia region. Mount Nemrut and its surrounding was established as a natural park in 1988 due to its cultural, historical and archaeological importance. Mount Nemrut and its surrounding resembles a distinct and diversity landscape features in terms of its geology and geomorphological features, so different landscapes can be observed, such as fold structure, fault structure, fluvial landforms and karst landforms. With these features, the study area might be considered as a natural earth science laboratory and the area has a big potential in terms of the geotourism. Aim of this study is to evaluate the geotourism potential of the Nemrut Mount Natural park and ıts surroundings by the way of determining the geosites which are very important in terms of the geotourism and geoways.

The analysed area is located in the Western Cordillera in the department of Arequipa. The results of the investigation carried out by the Polish Scientific Expedition Peru, which goal was to prepare the scientific background for establishing a national park in the area of the Colca Canyon and the Valley of Volcanoes, have been used for the study. At present, the Peruvian Institute INGEMMET is endeavouring to establish there a protected area in the form of a geopark under the auspices of UNESCO. Establishment of the Geopark Colca and Andagua Volcanoes will create new opportunities for touristic development. Among the numerous geosites described in this area, those related to volcanic activity deserve special attention. There are numerous: stratovolcanoes, lava domes, pyroclastic cones, lava flows, geysers and hot springs in the area. Also layers of tuff, ingimbrites, lahars and other volcanic rocks occur there. Indication of possibilities to make volcanic forms accessible will be an important step in their touristic development. Conditions and restrictions in making the objects accessible in the light of protection of other environmental values have been analysed during the study. Apart from tourism, highly developed mining industry, farming, hydrotechnical and power investments of supra-local scale occur in the area. Therefore, indicating necessity to establish zones of limited access to protect the area against improper land development is also an important aspect.

The aim of this paper is to propose, valorise and catego-rise the geosites in the Podtatrze Area (Southern Poland). There are 46 geosites available in geodatabases (PGI, PAS and AGH) at this area. The author suggests next 28 geopoints, which can be used in geotourism. They were valorised by the Pereira and Pereira (2010) and Rybár (2010) methods and categorised. This area contains multiple geotourism attractions including interesting flysch geological settings, landslides, peatbogs, limestone klippes, various types of rivers with small gorges and paleonto-logical sites. The increase in the number of tourists in the Pod-tatrze region may additionally provide numerous tangible benefits in the future, including sustainable tourism, less " congestion " in the Tatra Mountains, more economic diversity and new job opportunities.
