moreThis paper describes a novel way to acquire trustworthy access to cultural heritage information over the internet. Instead of depending on information that is put on the internet on a free and voluntary basis, this approach utilises the digitisation of cultural heritage objects in combination with metadata descriptions generated by experts at museums and libraries.
The paper describes the I-Mass project which, to this end, aims to solve problems of syntactic and semantic interoperability of metadata standards to reach so-called interoperability of content. In addition, the I-Mass project aims to provide end-users of different backgrounds with uniform and universal access to a wide variety of cultural heritage information by means of an adaptable and adaptive user interface which allows for access to contextualised information according to different perspectives, levels and dimensions.
