Researchers from the University of Liverpool have shown the potential of repurposing an existing and cheap drug into a long-acting injectable therapy that could be used to treat COVID-19. [45]
Now a group of researchers from Seoul National University in South Korea, University of Cambridge in UK, and Lehigh University in USA, have worked together to produce the first open-source all-atom models of a full-length S protein. [44]
A system that checks from a safe distance whether someone is displaying symptoms of COVID-19 has been developed by Urs Schneider and colleagues at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation in Stuttgart, Germany. [43]
Although the test still needs to be tested on intact viral RNA from patient samples, it could help relieve the current pressure on PCR-based tests, the researchers say. [42] Simon Fraser University researchers will use their pioneering imaging technology-called Mango, for its bright colour-to develop coronavirus testing kits. [41] According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, common human coronaviruses usually cause mild to moderate upper-respiratory tract illnesses, like the common cold. [40] When diseases reinforce each other, they rapidly accelerate through the population, then fizzle out as they run out of new hosts. [39] It's no coincidence that some of the worst viral disease outbreaks in recent years-SARS, MERS, Ebola, Marburg and likely the newly arrived 2019-nCoV virus-originated in bats. [38] An interdisciplinary team of researchers at Colorado State University has used computational chemistry, biochemistry and virology to uncover new information on how viruses such as West Nile, dengue and Zika replicate. [37]

Legal measures adopted by Ukrainian authorities seemed as an attempt to be pragmatic in today’s fragile political and economic environment and circumstances. There is no sign that Ukrainian authorities intentionally took steps contrary to the very idea of human rights or acting against basic constitutional guarantees as enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine and fundamental principles of human rights. The imposed measures, however, should be under permanent review by national and international whistleblowers and narrowed as much as possible if the pandemic situation allows.

This paper pledges to illustrate and analyse the practices and measures that Eastern European Orthodox Christian communities in the diaspora implemented in response to the global phenomenon of the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic. A comparative study of two different West-European communities, in Italy and France, will be attempted through the tools of multi-sited participant observation. We will illustrate the alternative forms of reaction and re-aggregation implemented by the faithful and their priests by putting them in communication with the two local contexts, and with the overall dynamics that have affected contemporary Orthodoxy. Observation will therefore offer fruitful opportunities to investigate the semantic variations with which Orthodox communities translate the debate between tecno-scientific measures and religious dogmas, and between civil and religious authorities, in a scenario in which Orthodox migrants are protagonists of both a growing religious transnationalization, and a new everyday life regulated by epidemic risk and physical and social distancing. We will therefore focus on the production from below of new practices, which have readjusted the community belonging and the adherence to dogmas and traditional rituality, both central in Orthodox Christianity, to the current condition.

Obiettivo dell'articolo è quello di illustrare e analizzare le pratiche e gli accorgimenti che le comunità cristiano ortodosse est-europee in diaspora stanno attuando in risposta al fenomeno globale della epidemia da SARS-CoV-2. In parti-colare, attraverso gli strumenti dell' osservazione partecipante multi-situata, si tenterà uno studio comparativo di due diverse comunità del contesto europeo occidentale, in Italia e in Francia. Mettendole in comunicazione con i due contesti locali, e con le dinamiche complessive che hanno interessato l'Ortodossia, illustreremo le forme di aggregazione alternative poste in atto dai fedeli e dai loro sacerdoti. L' osservazione offrirà opportunità feconde per indagare le variazioni semantiche con cui le comunità traducono il dibattito fra scienza e religione, e fra autorità civili e religiose, in uno scenario in cui i credenti ortodossi sono protagonisti tanto di una crescente transna-zionalizzazione dell'Ortodossia, quanto di una nuova quotidianità normata dal rischio epidemico e dal distanziamento fisico e sociale. Ci concentreremo quindi sulla produzione dal basso di prassi alternative, che riadattano alla nuova condizione la par-tecipazione comunitaria e gli imperativi della fedeltà al dogma e al rito tradizionale, entrambi centrali nella religione cristiano ortodossa.

This paper aims to explain the influence which caused by the “COVID-19” pandemic happening to various parts of the world right now. COVID-19 is a infectious disease caused by SARS-Cov-2, one type of coronavirus. This disease resulted in a COVID-19 pandemic in 2019-2020.
Coronavirus pandemic which caused by SARS-Cov-2 give a rise to a new lifestyle in the society, especially the society affected greatly by this pandemic. The new lifestyle called as “New Normal”. New Normal lifestyle wants the society to live a healthy and orderly life by doing healthy activities, such as always wash your hands, wear a face mask, maintain body fitness, etc. to avoid disease particularly SARS-CoV-2. This lifestyle is based on the nature, “Survival of the fittest” which mean SARS-CoV-2 viewed as one of the means of natural selection for humans.

Der Aufstieg der AfD scheint im Superwahljahr 2021 gebremst. Die Verluste in den Landtagswahlen von Baden-Württemberg und Rheinland-Pfalz sind aber kein Zeichen für den Anfang vom Ende der Partei. Bei ihrem Parteitag am vergangenen Wochenende hat die AfD in den Corona-Maßnahmen eindeutig ihr neues Feindbild gefunden, dem sie das Narrativ einer vermeintlich heilen Normalität entgegensetzt. Die Verluste sollten ebenso wenig als ein Zeichen dafür gedeutet werden, dass die dem Wahlerfolg von 2017 mitunter zugrundeliegenden sozialen Konfliktlagen und Polarisierungen in der Gesellschaft zurückgedrängt worden wären. Im Gegenteil: Die Geographie der Pandemie deckt sich erstaunlich stark mit jener des Wahlerfolgs der AfD. Das Konzept der Peripherisierung bietet sich an als Klammer für die beiden Dimensionen, Wahl der AfD und hohe Covid-19-Inzidenzen, und erlaubt es, das Nebeneinander und die Verwobenheit unterschiedlicher sozialer und politischer Phänomene zu beleuchten. Noch im Februar 2020, also kurz bevor die Covid-19-Pandemie auch Deutschland mit voller Wucht erreichte, lag die Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) in Umfragen bei 14 %. Etwas mehr als ein Jahr später, Ende März 2021, kommt die Rechtsaußen-Partei auf 11 %, was im Vergleich zu ihrem Wahlergebnis bei den Bundestagswahlen 2017 (nur) ein leichtes Minus von 1,6 % bedeutet. Penulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kegiatan penerbangan dalam hal pengangkutan barang yang dimuat dan penumpang pesawat dalam penerbangan domestik dan penerbangan Internasional pada Januari 2020 dan Januari 2021 sebelum dan selama pandemi Covid-19. Pengujian dilakukan dengan analisis uji-f  Berdasarkan perbandingan rata-rata Januari 2020 untuk domestik bisa mengangkut 1,092,439.00 sedangkan di Januari 2021 hanya 266,104.00 dan untuk penerbangan internasional 363,488.00 sedangkan Januari 2021 11,401.00 dan untuk Main Bran pada Januari 2021 1,455,927.00 sedangkan Januari 2021 277,505.00. Hal ini berarti ada jumlah penurunan penumpang pesawat pada Januari 2021 lebih rendah dari pada Januari 2020 penurunan yang cukup signifikan barang yang di muat dan jumlah penumpang pesawat. Berdasarkan analisis Uji F dua sampel dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan jumlah barang yang dimuat dan jumlah penumpang pesawat dalam penerbangan domestik dan penerbangan internasional pada satu tahun terakhir. Meskipun mengalami penurunan penumpang selama Pandemi Covid-19 namun Pt Garuda Indonesia telah menyiapkan strategi baik dari segi operasional maupun keuangan untuk meningkatkan kembali kinerja.

In 2016, following pandemic influenza threats and the 2014–2016 Ebola virus disease outbreaks, the WHO developed a guidance document for managing ethical issues in infectious disease outbreaks. In this article, we analyse some ethical issues that have had a predominant role in decision making in response to the current COVID-19 pandemic but were absent or not addressed in the same ways in the 2016 guidance document. A pandemic results in a health crisis and social and political crises both nationally and globally. The ethical implications of these global effects should be properly identified so that appropriate actions can be taken globally and not just in national isolation. Our analysis, which is a starting point to test the broader relevance of the 2016 WHO document that remains the only available guidance document applicable globally, concludes that the WHO guidance should be updated to provide reasoned and thoughtful comprehensive ethics advice for the sound management of the current and future pandemics.

ÖZET COVID-19 salgını, dünya çapında benzeri görülmemiş bir halk sağlığı krizine yol açmıştır ve hızla yayılması okul ve toplum sağlığı için ciddi bir tehdit oluşturmaktadır. Birçok ülke, bulaşmayı ya- vaşlatmak ve sağlık sistemleri üzerindeki yükü hafifletmek için fiziksel uzaklaştırma politikasının bir par- çası olarak okulları kapatmaya karar vermiştir. Okulların kapanmasıyla okul sağlık hizmetlerinin sürdürülememesi pandemi öncesi görülen halk sağlığı sorunlarının pandemi sonrasında yoğun bir şe- kilde okul sağlığı hemşirelerinin karşısına çıkacağını göstermektedir. Okullarda daha önce olduğu gibi bu süreçte de çocukların ve okul toplumunun sağlığını koruma ve geliştirmede önemli rollere sahip okul sağlığı hemşirelerine büyük ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır. Bu derlemenin amacı; COVID-19 Pandemisi döne- minde okul sağlığı hemşirelerinin uygulamalarını açıklayarak okul toplumu ve sağlık profesyonellerinin bu konudaki farkındalığını arttırmaktır.

Non è la prima volta che il lessico militare entra a far parte di un ambito comunicativo di tutt’altro dominio semantico e, non per niente, sceglie di farlo attraverso la metafora. Non si parla infatti di semplici figure retoriche, ma di espressioni capaci di creare un’immagine linguistica che non ha la necessità di essere compresa, ma che viene semplicemente e istantaneamente percepita. La presente ricerca si pone l’obiettivo di analizzare le implicazioni dell’utilizzo della metafora militare in situazioni di emergenza sanitaria come quella del contemporaneo Covid-19. Per farlo prende in considerazione i principali pensieri filosofici, linguistici e cognitivi a riguardo, e ne applica le deduzioni nello studio del caso coronavirus.

The COVID-19 pandemic led to surprising and unexpected experiences for Saudi university students. Precautionary and preventive measures taken to contain this pandemic impacted the social and educational aspects of these students' lives. All Umm Al-Qura University (UQU) students were invited to participate in an online survey on 30 impacts, both positive and negative, of the COVID-19 pandemic on their lives. Social impact theory (SIT) was applied to illustrate these impacts. The survey yielded 1,360 responses. The results showed high to moderate levels of agreement regarding students' perceptions of the positive and negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on their lives, with social aspects impacted more than educational ones; and no statistically significant gender differences. Weak correlations were found between the social aspects and the educational aspects of students' lives in relation to the impact of the pandemic, although all aspects were correlated positively. The SIT framework provided insights into how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted stu-dents' lives.

The Covid-19 pandemic in the twenty-first century made it necessary to conduct a study on psychology in the translation profession. The study aims to determine whether there is a significant relationship between translator candidates' fear of Covid-19 and their professional outcome expectations. Within the study's scope, the effect of the psychological conditions of the translator candidates studying at the Department of Translation and Interpretation in French at Marmara University during pandemic on the outcome expectations for the translation profession after graduation was tried to be examined. Due to the pandemic, the questionnaire prepared on Google Forms, including the fear of Covid-19 scale and the professional outcome expectation scale and demographic questions, was sent online to the translator candidates. A total of 56 translator candidates voluntarily participated in the research. SPSS software was used for the analysis of the data. The study's hypothesis, which was created that there is a relationship between fear of Covid-19 and expectation towards the translation profession, has been confirmed. There is a statistically significant negative correlation between the fear of Covid-19 and the expectation towards the translation profession. In this direction, as the translator candidates' fear of Covid-19 increases, the expectations of professional outcomes decrease. Again, as the translator candidates' fear of Covid-10 decreases, their expectations for professional outcomes increase. A number of recommendations have been made to deal with the psychological repercussions of the Covid-19 outbreak. This research, which was presented during the process of dealing with the pandemic, is expected to shed light on other studies to be conducted.

This article used a collaborative self-ethnography with a religious socio-anthropological viewpoint. This study could help to solve social problems through theological convergence in the Islamic milieu, especially that of the government’s formal Islamic organization and organic Islamic leaders of the society

The aim of this study was to explore the coping resources of hope and sense of coherence, which are rooted in positive-psychology theory, as potential resilience factors that might reduce the emotional distress experienced by adults from three cultural groups in Israel during the chronic-stress situation of a pandemic. The three cultural groups examined were secular Jews, Ultra-Orthodox Jews, and Arabs. We compared these cultural groups during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, just before the Jewish New Year (mid-September 2020) as a second lockdown was announced. Data were gathered from 248 secular Jews, 243 Ultra-Orthodox Jews, and 203 Arabs, who were 18-70 years old (M = 37.14, SD = 12.62). The participants filled out self-reported questionnaires including the Brief Symptom Inventory as a measure of emotional/psychological distress (i.e., somatization, depression, and anxiety) and questionnaires about sense of coherence and different types of hope (i.e., intrapersonal, interpersonal, and transpersonal) as measures of coping resources and resiliency. Differences were found between the three groups in terms of several variables. The Arab participants reported the highest levels of emotional distress and the lowest levels of interpersonal and transpersonal hope; whereas the Ultra-Orthodox participants revealed the highest levels of sense of coherence and other resilience factors. A structural equation model revealed that, in addition to the sociodemographic factors, only sense of coherence and intrapersonal hope played significant roles in explaining emotional distress, explaining 60% of the reported distress among secular Jews, 41% among Ultra-Orthodox Jews, and 48% among Arabs. We discuss our findings in light of the salutogenic and hope theories. We will also discuss their relevancy to meaning-seeking and self-transcendence theory in the three cultural groups.
