The  2010  BP  oil  spill  represented  one  of  the  worst  maritime  calamities  in  American history.  Despite  its  devastation,  economic  activity  emerged  succeeding  the  event.  No guarantee exists that locations will recover completely and achieves the same level of normalcy that existed before disasters occur. Given these notions, this study briefly examines the in-port grain loading activities and levels among Gulf Coast ports before and after the 2010 BP oil spill. The outcome of the study showed a statistically significant difference between the examined periods.

The Navier-Stokes differential equations describe the motion of fluids which are incompressible. The three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations misbehave very badly although they are relatively simple-looking. The solutions could wind up being extremely unstable even with nice, smooth, reasonably harmless initial conditions. A mathematical understanding of the outrageous behaviour of these equations would dramatically alter the field of fluid mechanics. This paper describes why the three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations are not solvable, i.e., the equations cannot be used to model turbulence, which is a three-dimensional phenomenon. TraQuad is an autonomous tracking quadcopter capable of tracking any moving (or static) object like cars, humans, other drones or any other object on-the-go. This article describes the applications and advantages of TraQuad and the reduction in cost (to about 250$) that has been achieved so far using the hardware and software capabilities and our custom algorithms wherever needed. This description is backed by strong data and the research analyses which have been drawn out of extant information or conducted on own when necessary. This also describes the development of completely autonomous (even GPS is optional) low-cost drone which can act as a major platform for further developments in automation, transportation, reconnaissance and more. We describe our ROS Gazebo simulator and our STATUS algorithms which form the core of our development of our object tracking drone for generic purposes.

In modeling of discrete data, common discrete distributions sometimes fail to fit the observed data due to over dispersion resulting from excessive zero counts. In those situations, Zero Inflated models act as best alternative models to handle that kind of data. When the data contains both high frequencies of zero and one counts, Zero-Inflated models can also perform poorly. As a result, this paper aimed at developing a new alternative model titled the Zero-One Inflated Negative Binomial Crack (ZOINBCR) distribution that would account for excessive zeroes and ones in dataset. Properties and generalizations of ZOINBCR distribution were provided. Its parameters were also obtained based on the Method of Moments procedure and the Maximum Likelihood estimation procedure.

ABSTRACT The concept of internal branding is well accepted in the service industry. This study examines how internal branding helps service organizations achieve desirable outcomes such as job satisfaction and employee loyalty. The model is developed based on social exchange theory and considers the relationship among internal branding, employee engagement, job satisfaction, and employee loyalty. The model is tested on service employees of hotels in South Korea using a survey method. The study finds internal branding is critical for employees to be engaged with the job and the organization and employee engagement fully mediates the relationship between internal branding and job satisfaction. Several implications are discussed.

Background: With a maternal mortality rate of 576 deaths per 100,000 live births, Nigeria accounts for about 10% of all maternal deaths, globally, and has the second highest mortality rate in the world. This high mortality rate makes maternal health a huge public health problem in the country. This paper, therefore, aimed at investigating socio-demographic factors affecting the utilization of Maternal Health Care (MHC) in the context of hierarchical modelling. Methods: Data were extracted from the Nigerian Demographic and Health Survey, 2013. The data have a hierarchical structure, with the 20,116 Ever-Married Women nested within their respective states of residence. Three different hierarchical logistic regression models were formulated to allow for comparison of outcomes between clusters. Findings: A proportion of opposed odds ratio of 0.45 indicate that in 45% of pair-wise comparisons between the urban and rural residence, the odds of MHC utilization was higher at an urban residence than at a rural residence by 1.388 times. The Median Odds Ratio (MOR) for Model 2 indicated the odds of MHC utilization was less than 2.41 for a woman in a state at higher risk compared to a different woman in a state at lower risk. The intra-class correlation coefficient revealed a 40% (Model 1), 21% (Model 2) and 16% (Model 3) chances of utilizing MHC, explained by between-states differences, respectively. Conclusion: In order to close the variation in healthcare delivery in Nigeria, there is a need for government to execute state-specific interventions that would allow fair distribution and utilization of MHC.

To forecast wind speed is a crucial process to the design, the development and the operation of a windelectric plants. The speed and the direction of the wind are generally intermittent and it is necessary a robust model that be able to predict correctly their variations. This paper proposes a new wind speed forecasting model based on artificial neural networks and singular spectrum analysis. This model is able to provide forecasts from 1 to 24 hours ahead, and has been experimented using a Brazilian wind-power generation database. The obtained results have demonstrated that the model proposed in this paper is robust and reliable for real applications.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the phonetic content of prose texts in English and the emotion that the texts inspire, namely - the effect of vowel-consonant biphones on subjects’ evaluation of positive or negative emotional valence when reading. The methodology is based on data from an experiment where the participants, native speakers of three different languages, evaluated the valence invoked in them by one-page extracts from English literary works. The sublexical level of the texts was obtained using phonetic transcriptions of the words and their further decomposition into vowel-consonant biphones. The statistical investigation relies on density-measures of the investigated biphones over each text as a whole. The result shows that there exists a correlation between the obtained sublexical representation and the valence perceived by the readers. Concerning the type of consonants in the biphones (abrupt or sonorant), the influence of the abrupt biphones is stronger. However, subsets of both types of biphones showed relatedness with the emotional valence conveyed by the texts. In conclusion, the speech, expressed in written form, is laden with emotional valence even when the words’ lexicological meaning is not taken into consideration and the words are apprehended as mere phonetic constructs. This prompts hypothesizing that the semantics of words is itself partly underpinned by some mental emotion-related level of conceptualization, influenced by sounds. For practical purposes, the result suggests that based on the syllabic content of a text it should be possible to predict the valence that the text would inspire in its readers.
