Alves Redol

A obra "Gaibéus", de Alves Redol, incide sobre os movimentos migratórios sazonais de pessoas que se deslocavam para as lezírias do Tejo, para laborarem na monda e na colheita dos mais diversos cereais, frutos, etc. Era um trabalho árduo, mas necessário à sobrevivência dos migrantes.

RESUMO: Neste artigo pretendem-se salientar o valor e a importância da educação e formação (tanto a adquirida na família, com os amigos e através das experiências próprias, como a recebida na escola) no processo de crescimento das pessoas analisando o romance Constantino, Guardador de Vacas e de Sonhos de Alves Redol. Esta obra situar-se-á primeiro no contexto do Neo-Realismo português e explicar-se-á o papel politica e socialmente empenhado da literatura neste movimento. Através da representação de uma parte do percurso da vida do protagonista, Constantino Cara-Linda, um rapaz de doze anos de idade, o autor tem por objectivo mostrar o processo de individuação de uma criança que pouco a pouco vai tornando-se homem. Assumindo as responsabilidades próprias da vida adulta este menino vai tentar encontrar uma forma viável de realizar o seu sonho: o de deixar de ser pastor e ser serralheiro de navios, abrindo os seus horizontes e perspectivas para o futuro.

ABSTRACT: In this article it is pretended to point out the value and the importance of education and forming (the one acquired in family, with friends and through our own experiences, as well as the one received at school) in the process of growing up of people, analyzing the novel Constantino, Keeper of Cows and Dreams written by Alves Redol,  Firstly, this work will be situated in the context of Portuguese Neo-realism and it will be explained the politically and socially engaged role of the literature of this movement. Through the representation of one part of the life of the main character, Constantino, a twelve years old boy, the author’s purpose is to show the process of individuation of a child which gradually is becoming a man. By assuming the responsibilities characteristic for the adult life, this boy will try to find a way to realize his dream: not to be a sheppard any more and to be locksmith of ships, opening his horizons and perspectives for the future.
