“The identification of Nimrod with either Sargon or Naram-Sin has been brought up in the past, generally only in passing. …. The present writer believes that a conclusive case now can be made for equating Nimrod with Sargon”. Dr. Douglas Petrovich

Perhaps one of the more intriguing and enigmatic characters in the OT is Nimrod, though his name appears only 4 times throughout the entire Bible. Opinions about Nimrod's identity, which have abounded since ancient times, include Ninurta, Amenhotep III, and Gilgamesh. This paper demonstrates, however, that exegetical, epigraphical, and archaeological evidence combine to prove conclusively that Sargon of Akkad is the one and only ancient historical character who fits all of the biographical requirements of biblical Nimrod.

Sargon of Akkad created the first major empire in human history. While his historicity is mostly accepted, little work has been done to better understand the details of Sargon’s life and reign. The particulars of Sargon’s birth are debated as the evidence that has survived seems to be comprised mostly of myth and legend. This thesis shows that an examination of the Sargon Birth Legend and the other Sargonian texts reveals specific literary elements that are frequently repeated in other stories from the ancient world. It also demonstrates that, while Sargon is a historical figure, much of his story has been mythologized by Ancient Near East literary developments. Specifically, this thesis examines the connection between Sargon’s birth legend and the exposed infant motif found in various accounts in ancient literature. An in-depth examination of the similarities between Sargon and Moses’ birth legends will be carried out along with a look at the connection between Sargon and the identity of the biblical Nimrod.
“However, it is sometimes difficult to determine whether a particular accomplishment was actually Sargon's work; in some cases the textual and material evidence suggests that some of the accomplishments of Sargon actually belong to Naram-Sin”. Caleb Chow

This article offers an edition of an early Sargonic cuneiform tablet in the Cornell University Collections (Ithaca), which contains two dedicatory inscriptions “for the life of Sargon, king of Akkade” by a temple administrator named Egalêsi. The same official occurs in a legal document dated in the third year of a governor of Umma, whose name has been read as “TE.UŠ.GIM”. It is argued that “TE.UŠ.GIM” should in fact be read as sùr-ús-gen7. The name of this Sargonic governor was already known, although under differrent spellings, but he was considered to be a contemporary of Man’iśtūśu or an even later governor. The new text published here allows us to date him to the time of Sargon of Akkade.
A recent investigation published on the Internet (link below) suggests a link between races through many common or shared icons, styles and gods. The question arises 'Can we establish when this commonality was broken up and dispersed to "the four winds"?' Geology comes to our aid rather surprisingly.

TDC anchors the first world wars, with the Akkadian Empire, from the 2006 anno-mundi passing of Noach, to year 14 of the '430-year' count (TDC, that began in 2018 by Abraham age 70), to 2032, when Abraham (1948-2123) age 84. We also help identify Enoch, Noach, Shem, Sargon of Akkad and Nimrod, inside and outside of scriptural testimony.

The identity of Nimrod in the ancient near east is Ninurta, Lord of the Earth. The Bible, however, reveals that he was not lord of the earth but a rebel who had gone against YHWH's commands. Nevertheless, both the Bible and the ancient near east agree that he was powerful, was known as the hunter, and had the epithet of hero. The Bible describes Nimrod started as a human and became a hybrid.

THE NEPHILIM, KINGS OF AN EPIC AGE, is a pioneering work tracking down the story of the enigmatic scions of the gods or Nephilim in ancient Middle Eastern tradition. Commencing with the most ancient strata of traditions of Sumer and Egypt, the focus falls on the earliest known and perhaps greatest of heroic ages, the Epic Age of great Sumerian kings like Gilgamesh and mighty Akkadian god-kings who ruled over the ends of the known world. Their epic traditions, which include some of the greatest legends and myths our world has seen, are brought to life in an unprecedented way. THE NEPHILIM also explores their secret doctrine. Although many authors have written about the strange world of the ancients, this work explores the secrets and enigmas specifically associated with the Sumerians and the Akkadians, something that has never been done before. The author’s newly published chronology for the ancient Middle Eastern world, dramatically confirmed by the recent discovery of an important cuneiform text, is utilised to shed new light on many gaps in our knowledge and to unlock those mysteries. Also investigated and studied is the relationship between the Sumero-Akkadian and the Israelite, Persian, Indian and Egyptian traditions as well as the history of religion. Readers intrigued by the ancient world and all its marvels will find this work truly fascinating and absolutely worth the read.

The correct prediction of subsequential port-to-port routes plays an integral part in maritime logistics and is therefore essential for many further tasks like accurate predictions of the estimated time of arrival. In this paper we present a scalable AI-based approach to predict upcoming port destinations from vessels based on historical AIS data. The presented method is mainly intended as a fill in for cases where the AIS destination entry of a vessel is not interpretable. We describe how one can build a stable and efficient in-database AI solution built on Markov models that are suited for massively parallel prediction tasks with high accuracy. The presented research is part of the PRESEA project (“Real-time based maritime traffic forecast”).

Deinococcus radiodurans exhibits extreme resistance to DNA damage and is one of only few bacteria that encode two Dps (DNA protection during starvation) proteins. Dps-1 was shown previously to bind DNA with high affinity and to localize to the D. radiodurans nucleoid. A unique feature of Dps-2 is its predicted signal peptide. In the present paper, we report that Dps-2 assembly into a dodecamer requires the C-terminal extension and, whereas Dps-2 binds DNA with low affinity, it protects against degradation by reactive oxygen species. Consistent with a role for Dps-2 in oxidative stress responses, the Dps-2 promoter is up-regulated by oxidative stress, whereas the Dps-1 promoter is not. Although DAPI (4′,6-diamidino-2-phenylindole) staining of Escherichia coli nucleoids shows that Dps-1 can compact genomic DNA, such nucleoid condensation is absent from cells expressing Dps-2. A fusion of EGFP (enhanced green fluorescent protein) to the Dps-2 signal peptide results in green fluorescenc...

Eucalyptus is the largest source of renewable wood in Brazil and has been expanding in recent years for various purposes. However, production is consolidated in traditional areas or is linked to new manufacturing industries. The West of Sao Paulo (Oeste Paulista) is a region strategically located among all the production chains, but with little investment and without any study on the region's production capacity. We have analyzed and outlined the region with similar climatic and ground characteristics to verify possibilities of investments and it were planted 100 eucalyptus trees of the 10 species most currently used in Brazil totaling 1000 samples which were monitored from 2013 to 2016to analyze which species would have better average increment of wooden volume.Among those with better gains, we point out the species 1277 and I144, which have adapted better and the specie E. tolleriana, which got the worse performance. Furthermore, we have analyzed domestic prices and we have in...

This article aims to crystallize the contributions of the Girls in Risk Reduction Leadership (GIRRL) Program in building resilient communities through the integration of adolescent girls into local level decision-making and action for reducing disaster risk. Disadvantaged adolescent girls carry a double burden derived from vulnerability associated with gender and age within the context of disaster risk. Girls often face greater danger than boys or adults and are perceived as powerless. Their needs go unheard and capacities ignored because of their exclusion from decision-making and social participation. Efforts to reduce risk must be inclusive of the needs of vulnerable populations. Despite global calls for the inclusion of women, children, and youth in risk reduction policy and planning, its application has been insufficient. The GIRRL Program, utilizing Participatory Action Research, helped to catalyze the capacities of girls through personal empowerment to drive the agenda for in...

Mobile platforms have matured to a point where they can provide the infrastructure required to support sophisticated optimization codes. This opens the possibility to envisage new interest for distributed application codes and the opportunity to intensify research on optimization algorithms requiring limited computational resources, as provided by mobile platforms. In this article, we report on some exploratory experience in this area. We illustrate some practical, real-world cases where running optimization programs on mobile or embedded devices can be useful, with particular emphasis on matheuristics approaches. Then, we discuss a practical use case involving the feasibility version of the generalized assignment problem (GAP). We present a JavaScript implementation of a GAP solver that can be executed inside an ordinary browser supporting ECMAScript. We tested the code on different smartphones of varying age and power, as well as on desktop PCs and other embedded devices. Our expe...

In developing countries, there are needs for scientific basis to sensitize communities on the problems arising from improper solid waste deposition and the acute and long-term consequences for areas receiving immobilized pollutants. In Nigeria, as in many other African countries, solid waste disposal by way of open dumping has been the only management option for such wastes. Herein, we have highlighted the challenges of solid waste deposit and management in developing countries, focusing on contaminants of emerging concern and leaching into the environment. We have analyzed sediments and run-off water samples from a solid waste dumping site in Owerri, Nigeria for organic load and compared these with data from representative world cities. Learning from previous incidents, we intend to introduce some perspective for awareness of contaminants of emerging concerns such as those with potential endocrine disrupting activities in wildlife and humans. Qualitative and quantitative data obtai...

The literature on alternative care focuses overwhelmingly on formal, court-ordered placements; voluntary care placements are discussed less frequently. Least attention of all has been given to informal kinship care placements, where a child is cared for by relatives but is not formally in the legal care of state authorities. In Ireland, these placements, when facilitated by state authorities in lieu of a care order or voluntary care agreement, are known by professionals as ‘private family arrangements’. This article explores evidence which shows that the use of such arrangements is motivated partly by a concern for subsidiarity, and partly by necessity: they provide a source of placements in cases where regulatory requirements and a lack of resources would otherwise make the placement challenging or impossible. However, this strategy carries significant risks. Private family arrangements receive less support and oversight from state authorities than formal care placements, and famil...
