Abstract
This book is about the results of the mining excavations at the copper mines in Derekutugun near Corum, that are dated to the Early Bronze Age. Here copper ores were exploited about 5000 years before our time.

During the excavations in Erikli Tarla (Derekutugun), a mining settlement at the immediate vicinity of the prehistoric native copper mines/galleries in Derekutugun, a moulded black lusturous omphalos bowl was found. This omphalos bowl is fragmentary, yet put together it is one of the most complete ceramic bowls in its cathegory in Anatolia. It is probably dated at the beginning of the 5th century BC, thus we can speak about an Achaemenid tradition connected with the Phrygian influences. This paper is about the production techniques of the black lusturous omphalos bowls, about their origin, relations to the mining settlement at Derekutugun and approximate distribution of this type of bowls in Anatolia.

Zinn und Kupfer aus dem Osten Kasachstans. Ergebnisse eines deutsch-kasachischen Projektes 2003-20082013 •
Eastern Kazakhstan is seen as an important provider of tin and other metals during the Bronze Age for a long time now. However, Kazakhstan has not been included into further considerations concerning the tin distribution of the Old World, unlike Central Asia and smaller deposits in the Middle East; completely unjustified, for there being tin bronzes here and in the adjoining Siberian cultures (Okunev, Karakol’, Elunino, Krotovo-Samus) at an early stage. They became an integral part of the metallic material during the 2nd millennium B.C. A research project, concerning this topic, was organized from the Deutsche Bergbau-Museum and the Ruhr-Universität Bochum in the years of 2003-2008 together with Kazakh partners. This essay summarizes the research of the tin- and copper pits of the Bronze Age, the metallurgic hubs as well as metal analyses on Eastern Kazakh metals, which delivered information about possible trading relations. The tin pit complex of Askaraly in the Delgebetej-mountains can be reported as a special result: Pits, simultaneous burial grounds and settlements with tin ore processing were detected in that area.

A Pithos Grave from Devret Höyük2020 •
Devret Höyük is a small (50 x 60 x 12 m) mound on a side terrace extending from Mt Çakırdağı to Suluova in Amasya province. The ridge where it is located is bordered by the shallow valleys that expand northwards on both sides. The brooks that seasonally flow through these valleys end at the Tersakan Tributary, which joins the Yeşilırmak. The mound has been destroyed substantially by the illicit excavations. During the salvage excavations we carried out with Amasya Museum in 2013, it was discovered that the mound had been a settlement with five layers (Türker 2014:363 ff.). Although 17 graves were unearthed during the excavations, it was understood that together with the disintegrated graves, a total of 21 individuals had been buried. Three of them were pithos graves, while the others were simple earthen graves (Türker et al.2018). One of these pithos graves (Grave MC.2) was addressed as the subject of this paper in terms of its originality and finds.

Das Kupfer der griechischen spätgeometrischen Dreifußkessel (ca. 750–700 v. Chr.): eine Diskussion der chemischen und bleiisotopischen Analysen2020 •
The authors have been carrying out a project since 2017, in which fragments of Greek bronze tripod cauldrons (legs, basins, handles) from the period 1200 to 700 BC are investigated archaeometrically. Most of the pieces are from Olympia, Delphi and other important sanctuaries. In addition to research on residues of the clayey casting moulds and cores which are studied both as indicators of technical history and indicators for the identification of production sites via NAA, the other focus is on the metals. Trace element and lead isotope analyses as well as metallographical investigations have been performed to clarify the origin of the copper. After the main part (260 fragments) of sampling and geochemical analysis was carried out, it was found that a group of nine tripod fragments (in most cases legs, in one case a leg and a handle) forms a cluster that differs greatly from the other samples in both the lead isotope and trace element pattern. Due to significant amounts of typical fahlore-type elements (As, Sb, Ag, Bi), we label this cluster Fahlerzgruppe A. All relevant samples belong to the Late Geometric period (c. 750-700 BC), indicating a sudden change in the Greek copper market, cutting old trade connections with the Levant. Comparison of the lead isotopes suggests that Fahlerzgruppe A is related to the so-called „Aegean Field“. But it isn’t matching any of the published ore data clusters, although chemical and metallographic analyses indicate the use of polymetallic ores with contribution of fahlore-type minerals, which are omnipresent in the Aegean. On the basis of an expanded search in published lead isotope and chemical data, the copper source of the Fahlerzgruppe A might have been in the Trabzon ore region at the Black Sea coast in Turkey or alternatively in Bulgaria with the Panagyurski- district or the Ai Bunar mine.
