Abstract Textile Technology: The sun-blocking properties of a textile are enhanced when a dye, pigment, delustrant, or ultraviolet absorber finish is present that absorbs ultraviolet radiation and blocks its transmission through a fabric to the skin. For this reason, dyed fabrics provide better sun protection than bleached fabrics.

Color fastness is one of the important factors in case of buyers demand. The outstandingly important property of a dyed material is the fastness of the shade of color. Color fastness refers to the resistance of color to fade or bleed of a dyed or printed textile materials to various types of influences e.g. water, light, rubbing, washing, perspiration etc. to which they are normally exposed in textile manufacturing and in daily use. We have written a lot of articles on color fastness.

Quality characteristics of dyed fabrics are the biggest and most important issues in Textile dyeing and Garment industries due to high demand of quality products. Among all the parameters, color fastness is the most important for dyed materials. Subsequently, in complex dyeing process, the most important factors such as dyeing time, alkali concentration and washing temperature are affecting color fastness properties. As, such factors act non-linearly and interrelate hence, it is very difficult to develop an exact mathematical model by traditional ways. Conversely, artificial neural network models are also trained using huge amount of experimental data. In this context, fuzzy expert system (FES) is the most efficient tool which can link the multiple inputs to a single output in non-linear complex domain. The main objective of this study is to model the color fastness of viscose fabric using fuzzy expert system. The model validation is evaluated via various numerical error criteria. The mean relative errorand correlation coefficient of predicted values are found to be 2.43%, and 0.992 respectively. The results indicate higher degree of accuracy of the developed model.

Many auxiliaries have been used in textile industries in dry or wet processes. One of the important based materials is fatty acids and its derivatives. The present work aims at preparing some textile auxiliaries based on saturated fatty acids. Six different materials were used to react with each fatty acid. Produced materials have been characterised using FT-IR, HLB and cloud point. Based on the HLB values, produced materials have been used as softeners or as O/W emulsifiers (printing paste). Treated fabrics with softeners show a very good physical and mechanical properties and printed fabrics with prepared pastes shows a good printing paste with good prints characteristics (colour strength and colour fastness).
