sources for the transliterated text found in the Tibetan translation of the Sarva-tathāgata-mātṛ-tārā-viśva-karma-bhava-tantra from the Comparative Kangyur, vol. 94, pp. 522-525, and for the same text as extracted by Bu ston, from the Comparative Kangyur, vol. 104, pp. 537-539. The six published Sanskrit editions are: 1. Godefroy de Blonay. Matériaux pour servir a l'histoire de la déesse buddhique Tārā, pp. 58-60. Paris, 1895. It is based on two late paper Sanskrit manuscripts. 2. Alex Wayman. "The Twenty-one Praises of Tārā, A Syncretism of Śaivism and Buddhism," Journal of the Bihar Research Society, vol. XLV, 1959, pp. 36-43. It is based on the Sanskrit transcription of this stotra found in the third chapter of the Tibetan translation of the Sarva-tathāgata-mātṛ-tārā-viśva-karma-bhava-tantra, Toh. 726, for which he used the sDe dge recension, in comparison with de Blonay's pioneering edition, and with the Tibetan translation, Toh. 438. It was reprinted in his 1984 book, Buddhist Insight, pp. 441-451. 3. Lokesh Chandra. "Hymn to Twenty-one Tārās," in Studies in Indo-Asian Art and Culture, vol. 4, ed. Perala Ratnam, pp. 57-80. New Delhi, 1975. It is based on a Sanskrit and Tibetan xylograph from Mongolia all in Tibetan script, reproduced on pp. 71-79, followed by the edition of the text typeset in devanāgarī script on p. 80, apparently in comparison with de Blonay's edition according to my comparison. 4. Martin Willson. In Praise of Tārā: Songs to the Saviouress. London: Wisdom Publications, 1986. The Sanskrit edition is found on pp. 55-58, with variant readings in note 30 on pp. 381-383. It is based on the Sanskrit transcription found in the Tibetan translation of the Sarva-tathāgata-mātṛ-tārā-viśva-karma-bhava-tantra, edited from several Tibetan recensions, in comparison with de Blonay's and Wayman's editions, and a quadrilingual blockprint from Mongolia. 5. Janardan Shastri Pandey. Bauddhastotrasamgraha, pp. 79-80. Delhi: Motilal Banarsidass,1994. It is apparently based on a late and very corrupt paper manuscript, according to my comparison. Unfortunately, this is the edition that was input in 2004 for the widely used digital edition from the Digital Sanskrit Buddhist Canon. Pandey is an excellent Sanskrit pandit, and he emended what he could in parentheses, but his source was simply too corrupt. See next entry. 6. Janardanshastry Pandey. Āryatārāsragdharāstotram & Tārānamaskāraikaviṃśatistotram, pp. 81-82. Allahabad: Pandey Publishing House,1995. It is apparently based on his previous edition, but greatly improved by comparison with Wayman's edition, according to my comparison.]
