What we're trying to do
We are the largest and fastest-growing platform in the world for academics to share research. 993,478 academics have signed up, and 90,000 are joining each month.
We are helping distribute research around the world in real time. It often takes months or even years for papers to get through the journal publishing system. We are making that process instant.
Research sits at the bottom of many of the technological innovations in society. If you can speed up research, you will see faster technological progress across the whole of society. If the process of speeding up research could bring forward the cure for cancer by 6 months, or a year, that would equate to millions of lives being saved. That is the vision we are going after with Academia.edu.
