Body fat, perceived stress, energy intake, and exercise behaviour were measured three times with 10 weeks between consecutive sessions. High restrained eaters’ body fat increased during a period when academic demands were high. Significant results were found for exercise behaviours but not for food consumption. Post hoc analyses did not reveal significant results for low restrained eaters. The results lend support to Muraven and Baumeister’s limited strength model of self-regulation.

Communicating Stigma about Body Size
Authors: Anderson, J., & Bresnahan, M.

This paper uses Smith’s (2007) stigma communication framework to analyze descriptions of male and female bodies of various sizes for their stigma content. Analyses reveal that elements of stigma communication appeared in 46.5% of comments across all bodies. The most common elements of stigma communication were severe labeling and comparison to body shape ideals. The most stigmatized body was the large male body; the second most stigmatized body was the very small female body. This paper suggests that stigmatizing communication about bodies occurs across the spectrum of body sizes for both genders. Implications for future health communication interventions aimed at decreasing body size stigma are presented.

Participants described their thoughts on the link between faith and health and expressed their personal values through that talk. Christians spoke about the connection between faith and health in terms of both personal beliefs and interpersonal interactions. Personal beliefs were characterized by a sense that God calls a Christian to be healthy, and that a response to this call—particularly through exercise—can demonstrate personal values of obedience and self-discipline. Interpersonally, failure to respond to this call and express these values was addressed through personal confession or confrontation of others. Discursive tensions arose throughout the discourse concerning how to discern the spiritual motives and/or character of a person given their health behaviors or physical appearance. Given these meaning-making sensibilities, implications for tailored health communication messaging are discussed.

The lack of body culture of the population, allied to the need for knowledge by Physical Education professionals of the health area, regarding the value of physical activity in an existential perspective, has contributed, in a negative way, to the evolution of humanity. Women, in the pre-menopause phase, have suffered various consequences due to this lack of culture, constituting, thus, the problem motivating this study. An adopted objective is to realize a study of the literary review regarding osteopenia, its risk factors, causes and its relation to physical activity. Endowed with this knowledge, Physical Education professionals and those in related areas act as multiplying agents, informing and alerting women regarding the
importance of premature diagnosis for preventive treatment to be effected, using physical activity as a resource. The methodology utilized was a review of the literature, placing physical activity as the object of the study and showing possible ways both of prevention and of treatment of osteopenia. However, it is inferred that this problem could be minimized and treated by orientation of professionals. regarding the multiple factors of risk, such as: age, sex, genetics and, especially, the risks referring to the phenotype such as nutrition, vices, medicines and lack of physical activity. Health researchers in diverse areas have
recommended regular physical activity for all ages, principally for those with excess bodyweight, for the prevention and treatment of osteopenia, in order to avoid osteoporosis.
do estudo.
Dotados
recurso.
