In this paper we consider the kinds of pedagogical engagements a poetic consciousness might invoke. When we reflect on what it might mean to be poetically conscious in moments of teaching, learning, and connecting, what emerges is the possibility of integrating the classroom experience with the everyday of life; such poetically conscious teaching would make connections to the larger web of a person’s experience in the world. To inquire into this possibility, we share our contemplations on our scholarly and personal experiences with poetry, presenting it here as a dis(e)ruptive text in order to invite aesthetic modes of being within the interplay of language and self. Our conversations have evolved over 3 years and have created this in-between space of active disclosure, where, we argue, poetry has offered dis(e)ruptions that celebrate the variations we inhabit in our bodies, personalities, and creative works.

Transformation Propensity in Low Income Housing: The Continuing Story of the Vastuhara in Dhaka

For the last few decades, the imprints of such a distinctive (but disorganized) and composite juxtaposition has become evident though the physical and cultural bearing of its housing industry. In a broader spectrum, the overall housing divide can be identified under two opposite categories - the formal and informal sectors in housing. With the government agencies out of the scene as the key provider in the housing stock, the formal sector is primarily dependent on numerous real-estate organizations and private entrepreneurs. The informal sector, on the other hand, is left to survive on its own - in conditions beyond human justification, but growing steadily to meet the demands of its urban machinery and economic whirlpool - an industry that presently comprises of the greater half of the total supply. This paper tells the tale of the Vastuhara resettlement scheme for the urban poor that stands out as a bright and optimistic example in transformation propensity where some cataleptic efforts by the government and the donor agencies have proven to be a spontaneous phenomena of social and economical advancement for its target group. Various sections of this text will portray a timescape of almost 40 years or so, assessing and addressing to details, which acted as contributing factors in the overall housing process.

This includes the transformation of layers between different coordinate systems. The paper presents a theoretical analysis of the transformation among the coordinate systems used in Slo-vakia: S-JTSK, ETRS-89, WGS-84 and S-42 and also a description of the numerical transformation of the 2D coordinate systems. Next part of the paper includes the description of raster data transformation (much more difficult than vector data transformation) in ArcGIS Desktop software developed by ESRI. ArcGIS works with several set of parameters of transformation among coordinate systems, and it is not clear which set of parameters choice to the territory of Slovakia. Verification of the parameters is also part of the paper.

manager has changed in regard to the professional dimension and contextual constraints. The main point concerns the current situation, where different ways of enactment of organizations' environments coexist, as do different managerial roles, as representing these different cultures of organizing. The paper proposes a typology of enterprises and roles, which can be used both in theory and practice, but perhaps more specifically by consultants who intend to introduce important change in East European enterprises. Taking the differences in responding to change into account would perhaps make the change itself more effective and more realistically aimed.

Nomads without Pastures? Globalization, Regionalization, and Livelihood Security of Nomads and Former Nomads in Northern Khams (Yushu, Qinghai/ China)

The development of its population and livestock numbers point out that many of the region’s pastoralist inhabitants can no longer depend on animal husbandry. Major official policies imply transformations or even the breakup of Tibetan nomadic systems, yet it is shown that Tibetan pastoralists are both willing and able to develop their own coping strategies. With a number of examples of how the (former) nomad society in Yüshu deals with changes evoked by a globalized economy, we hint at the scope of economic activities and opportunities it is willing to adopt and adjust to.

Abstract
Two collaborative writing partners sought to deepen their understanding of transformative learning by conducting several spirals of grounded theory research on their own collaborative relationship. Drawing from adult education, business, and social science literature and including descriptive analysis of their records of activity and interaction throughout a writing project, this article exhibits a comprehensive model of collaboration that integrates both transformative learning and dynamic/complex adaptive systems perspectives.

Transformational Narratives – A Context within History

It is difficult to draw a straight line in order to explain a fundamental life passage. At times these critical passages are not always beneficial or enlightening for the individual, but instead turn them hard and wearied. Often transformations change the individual for the worse. For those in power or in the public eye, these transformations are often necessary for survival. For centuries monarchies have been testing the limits of their character, and pushing people to the edge in order to transform into what they deem to be an effective ruler.
‘Transformed’ by the discovery of schooling as one educational paradigm among many

There is a sense that this mistake is part of a dominant ‘world-view’ where valid education happens in and through schools or educational institutions and also often adheres, to varying degrees, to an established educational modality of teacher-led teaching. Elective home education (EHE) is one form of education that disproves the myth of education as schooling. It does so in intriguing and surprising ways that involve new approaches to learning and becoming (Thomas and Pattison 2007; Sheffer 1995). In its very difference from schooling, EHE offers an alternative world-view of education in a human life that many practioners see as transformative. This paper looks at the discovery of EHE as a product of a Kuhnian ‘gestalt-switch’ (Kuhn 1962) that takes a person from one world and into another, with subsequent ontological implications for lifestyles and communication between ‘world-views’. The argument suggests that schooling needs to move towards being widely self-identified as only one paradigm amongst many in a educational arena of radically different educational worlds and that a conflation of education with schooling needs to cease. This is because transformations in people’s lives experienced when education is understood as not just schooling have implications for education which are intriguing.

Seen by:Ritual, Liminality and Transformation: Secular Spirituality in Sydney’s Gay Bathhouses
With Jason Prior in Australian Geographer, Vol. 39, No. 3, 2008 pp. 271-281 (reprinted in Stephen Hunt (ed.), New Religions and Spiritualities, Ashgate, 2010).

This enabled the sacred to be experienced through what were previously ‘secular’ activities, including sport, rock music, psycho-analysis and sexuality. Individualism and prosperity combined to encourage a focus on personal transformation as the primary religious process. The 1960s also saw calls for self-determination and equality for previously oppressed groups - women, blacks and gays. This paper uses the model of secular ritual and Victor Turner’s concept of liminality to investigate the role that the gay bathhouses had in enabling gay men to experience the sacred and to transform themselves. This paper is grounded in empirical research on Sydney’s gay bathhouses that sheds light on rites of passage, the role of pleasure and its relationship to religious ecstasy, and the development of a specifically gay askesis (way of becoming). It is also argued that the gay bathhouse is a crucial transformative space for all those men who were its initiates.
