Purpose: The main purpose of the present paper is to elaborate an entrepreneurial university conceptualization which could be appropriate for developing countries.A conceptualization which distinguishes between different elements of entrepreneurial universities in developing countries, and identifies the common ones. This conceptualization considers the indigenous aspects and the contextual factors.
Design/methodology/approach: The authors used a qualitative approach to investigate the concept, more deeply, in developing countries. In order to do so, a series of semi structured in-depth interviews were conducted with ten experts in this domain. Coding of qualitative data - both interviews and documents - was used to identify new dimensions, elements, and variables. The experts were chosen from knowledgeable individuals in this domain in the universities, including university officials, professors, and officials of the Science and Technology Parks. It should be noted that non-probability sampling technique, i.e. judgmental sampling were used to find the knowledgeable experts of this field of study.
Findings: This study presents a conceptualization for entrepreneurial universities in the developing countries. The findings reveal that there are four main elements in the proposed entrepreneurial university conceptualization, which are as follows: resources, capabilities, mission, and impeding elements.
Practical implications: The results of the present study could be used for policy making in the higher education sector of developing countries. Also, the results might be compared with the other conceptualizations in different contexts.

Resisting a top-down or technology driven approach, the team adopted a participatory design approach in order to create a more meaningful training course. Technology Probes were introduced in order to understand to what extent freely available Internet service would fit into the local context and what new services and technologies could be generated in accordance to that.

This study investigates small firm internationalization from a developing country perspective. Despite the vast literature
on small firm internationalization, the differences that exist between developing countries and developed countries
remain unexplored. Therefore, current theories are influenced by processes and practices in developed countries, which
are then applied blindly to developing countries. This study therefore asks: What are the factors that owners/managers in
developing countries understand to influence the scope and pace of internationalization of their small firms?
An interpretive approach is adopted to explore the factors that influence internationalization of small firms from
developing countries. Consequently, case data from four Botswana firms were collected and analyzed.
The literature review and case studies are used to propose a framework of a small firm internationalization from a
developing country. The framework identifies major factors that influence small firm internationalization in this context
as being; national\entrepreneurial culture, government policies, networks, innovative products, market knowledge and
commitment.

However, the social outcomes from sport events are largely anecdotal and there is a need to empirically examine the active engagement of groups with “others“ in participatory sport event projects. This article investigates the potential of an intercommunity sport event in contributing to intergroup development and social capital building in the ethnically divided Sri Lanka. It follows an interpretive mode of inquiry where findings are derived from the analysis of 35 in-depth interviews with Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and international event stakeholders. By providing evidence of the varying sociocultural experiences at the event, this article discusses the event's impact on intergroup relations and its influence on the stock of social capital available to communities. Findings can assist governments, policy makers, and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in advancing policies and practical measures that build on events as vehicles and catalysts for enhanced intergroup relations and the creation of social capital.

Because there are no better people than existing entrepreneurs when developing new businesses, we argue that governments and multilateral organizations should rely on them to promote the concept of social business. But are existing entrepreneurs ready to turn into social entrepreneurs? In this article we analyze the characteristics of entrepreneurs in developing countries, provide insight into their mindset toward social entrepreneurship, and produce policy recommendations that may help persuade them to become social entrepreneurs.

The aim is to help NGOs become true Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). In order to deal with more donors (at the top) and more beneficiaries (at the bottom), NGOs working in Humanitarian Aid and Social Development increasingly need systems to manage the creation, accessing and deployment information: within the NGOs themselves, between different NGOs that work together and, ultimately, between NGOs and Society as a whole. Put simply, NGOs are organizations that need an effective KM solution to tackle the problems that arise from both their local-global nature and from the difficulties of effective communication between and within NGOs and Civil Society. To address these problems, the underlying objectives, entities, activities, workflow and processes of the NGO will be considered from a KM framework. This paper presents the needs of a responsible, cooperative and participative NGO from a KM perspective, in order to promote the growth of Communities of Practice in local as well as in global network.

These NGOs are increasingly offering their ‘off-the-beaten-track’ journeys to the broad public as well. This kind of tourism can be called ‘development tourism’. Interestingly, the motivations of tourists participating in such journeys clearly differ from the intentions of the organizing NGOs. Although aimed at confronting people with the complexity of development aid and gain extra support for project work, the case study analyzed in this chapter shows how tourists choosing for development tourism seem to be more preoccupied with their self-development. Development tourism can therefore best be regarded as yet another response to the growing demand for new, distinctive kinds of leisure for the educated, mainly Western, middle-class.
