The article investigates the syntactic properties of this form in comparison with its standard counterparts, provides the experimental data on its acceptability and makes an assumption about the reasons of emergence of future participles in the natural speech.

Abstract. The issue of exploring historic transformations in social processes with regard to the individual development or social position is not new in social sciences; and yet history appears to be one of the most complex and controversial issues in social scientists’ debates. This article contributes to the ongoing theoretical discussion of studying an individual in history and history in an individual. At the basis of the argument is a case study of transformations in preparation for work in Russian schools as a result of the
1991 political change, and the role of those transformations in students’ construction of future working lives. I argue that the structural nature of the social activity can be used as the first methodological entry point for studying historical aspects of social processes; the concept of personhood, understood as a socially formed system of long-life functions, forms a methodologically more abstract level of linking history and individual development. I conclude that when history is taken seriously in social research, analytic processes become all-inclusive in the analysis of social processes and individual development.

The validity of the traditional approach to the semantics of verbal aspect in Russian based on the features “boundedness” and “totality” is questioned. It is argued that these features are not inherent in the meaning of all perfective verbs and cannot be regarded as the semantic invariant of aspectuality. A different approach is suggested, based on the analysis of morphological and syntactic evidence and on the assumption that the cognitive function of grammar is to categorize relevant human experience. It is shown that aspectual oppositions reflect the different cognitive statuses of the events expressed by paired verb lexemes: observed events are categorized in the form of aspectually marked verbs, whereas aspectually unmarked verbs categorize events without reference to observation. The grammatical meaning of aspect is defined as indication to the
source of information about the event which can be definite (based on observation), or indefinite (based on speaker’s knowledge), and has little to do with “boundedness” or “totality”. The suggested analysis is consistent with the central claim of autopoiesis as the theory of the living: "Everything said is said by an observer to another observer".

Purpose - Entrepreneurship and small businesses in Russia have been of academic interest for over fifteen years. This paper brings together current knowledge concerning the phenomenon, and suggests further directions for research.
Design/methodology/approach - The study consists of a systematic review of forty-eight refereed empirical articles on entrepreneurship and small businesses in Russia.
Findings - From the articles reviewed it appears that entrepreneurs in Russia use non-material resources to overcome the financial and institutional obstacles which still seem to afflict the market. However, theoretical and methodological issues are, in many cases, poorly reported and this undermines the scientific rigor of the studies they report.
Research limitations/implications – Because of the wide scope of the studies reviewed the results included here provide somewhat broad-brush descriptions of the phenomenon. However, we believe that the findings are valuable for an understanding of the current situation for entrepreneurship and small businesses in Russia. The findings may also stimulate more in-depth research in this increasingly important topic.
Originality/value - To the best of our knowledge, no literature review on this topic has previously been published in academic journals.

This paper addresses the question of whether it is possible to use machine learning techniques on linguistic data to validate linguistic theory. We determine how readily inflectional classes recognized by linguists can be inferred by an unsupervised learning method when it is presented with the paradigms of a small number (80) of high frequency Russian noun lexemes.
We interpret this as a measure of the validity of the linguistic theory. Inflectional classes are of particular interest, because they constitute a kind of autonomous morphological complexity which has no direct relationship to other levels of linguistic description, and hence there is no other objective way of assessing a theoretical characterisation of them. Using the same
method, we also examine the status of principal parts and defaults in inflectional classes, and the relationship between inflectional classes and stress in Russian nominal morphology. Our experiments suggest that this is an effective and interesting technique for shedding additional light on theoretical claims.
