“Let your Medicine be your Food and your Food be your Medicine”
The lines between food and medicine have always intercepted. However, western interpretation of this concept now says that certain foods, if their ingredients have healing properties, are now drugs. Food by its very definition is nutritional, discouraging disease through the use of traditionally natural foods. Because it plays a prominent role in promoting health, food can thereby be considered medicine. This includes the herbal healing of plants, vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds, spices, vitamins and certain enzymes and amino acids.
“Nutraceuticals” is the immediate between nutrition and pharmaceuticals. Nutraceuticals containing unregulated genetically modified ingredients and/or nanoparticles can now be considered natural. These products are patentable. But we ask, what is left to eat that is not considered a drug by Codex and the pharmaceutical industry and not owned by a third party. The very fact that the nature of our foods have been denatured due to soil depletion, extensive processes and toxic chemicals, pesticides and fertilizers, means that our food can no longer give us nutritional support and therefore must be fortified and enrich with vitamins and nutrients. Our foods can no longer provide the necessary components our bodies need.
In medicine, herbal plants are already considered drugs and attempts to regulate or criminalize them have long been in practice. Cannabalis is a good example of what is happening to our food and medicine. Notice I said food and medicine. To us, there is a distinct difference. One is necessary for daily survival to keep us from getting sick (prevention), and the other is necessary when our bodies need that little extra when it does become ill (treatment). Yes, the lines of food and medicine do intercept, but not at the expense of the other. They co-exist. The line is blurred because food now affords the opportunity for Big Pharma to profit off your daily survival. In other words, you must pay to live-- either way.
A real war exists on natural, organic and traditional products because they may interfere with profit making. We are the pawns in this game. The alteration and adulteration of our food and medicine is of great harm to all people especially melanated people. If the new “interpretation” of what our body needs is based non-melanated animals, then as now, our food and medicine will only make us sicker. Race-based medicine is a non-melanated approach to determine the health needs of melanated people for profit.
This is where we are. What are you going to do about it?
