The exegesis of the Venerable Bede (672-735 CE) is "cut" from the same cloth as his theology of history and his understanding of human transformation. Bede's exegetical theory displays a concern with the verbal "garments" of Christian Scripture, expressed as Scriptures "shapes" (*figurae*) and "adornments" (*ornati*), and his exegetical practice demonstrates a similar preoccupation. his understanding of human transformation, expressed in his exegetical, homiletic, and historical practice, is similarly related to the concepts of *figura* and *ornatus*. Bede's readers are meant to pattern their ethical selves upon the historical figures of Scripture in order to become clothed with the virtues displayed therein. The thesis advances its argument primarily by engaging with Bede's rhetorical treatise "On Schemes and Tropes" and his biblical commentaries.
The thesis then explores the implications of Bede's thought on history, morality, and language for the ongoing study of his historiographical works and for the contemporary study of Scripture.

We should not make the mistake of approaching this book as a work of vulgarization intended for an Italian readership—maybe less familiar to Scandinavian studies than others—but as an original piece of research written in Italian by competent scholars in Scandinavian humanities. Carla Del Zotto teaches Germanic philology at the University of Roma and published various books around the thematic of religious literature of the German middle ages, runes and Nordic mythology; Silvia Cosimini, not only graduated both in German philology from the University of Florence and in Icelandic language and literature from the University of Iceland, but is also a well-known translator of Icelandic authors; Tommaso Marani graduated in German philology from the University of Roma where he worked for a while as a docent and is currently doing his PhD in Old...

But Bologna rose up against the cardinal. The people besieged the palace and at last they compelled Bertrand to leave for France suddenly and destroyed completely the palace, painted by Giotto and other great artists. After that episode, the Pope began to build his palace in Avignon. When the cardinal was in Bologna, the abbot of Nonantola Bernard (he too was from France) collaborated with him, and was with him in the palace during the insurrection. The abbot was caught and had back freedom only after a hard imprisonment and a very expensive ransom. He returned in France and died few months later. In this paper the coat of arms of cardinal du Pouget is recognized on the Tower of Nonantola in the castle of Vignola (Modena).

Abstract:
This paper intends to attribute to Almannus of Hautvillers (IXe c.) a letter of an author A. to a certain magister E., which is only known in the manuscript Leiden, Voss. lat. oct. 88. The attribution, argued through textual concordances with works of Almannus, would allow to detail numerous historical informations referred to in the epistle as well as its doctrinal aspects, marked by the eriugenian influence, and at the same time to specify several facts concerning life and intellectual formation of the monk and priest of Hautvillers.
Sintesi:

These diplomas restore lands and rights to churches which had earlier been despoiled by the king and his advisors and their wording indicates that they were intended as a conscious gesture of penitence. As such, these documents were of central political importance and it is argued that they can be fruitfully mined for evidence of Æthelred’s own thoughts and feelings in these years; these diplomas might well be considered to preserve Æthelred’s own ‘voice’.
