These interactions are directed both by the design of the environment as well as by the community of the players. There are strong indications that these environments constitute, beyond of environments for fun, environments of collaborative learning through interactions with peers. Through this paper, we review research in the area of collaborative learning and relate it to relevant findings from the area of research in MMOGs and findings from our own research, in an attempt to formulate a conceptual model for the investigation of collaborative learning processes in MMOGs.
