Wagons loaded with pumpkins, soybean crops yellowing, tillage work in the already harvested wheat fields, and of course, the availability of fresh apple cider traditionally signals the advent of autumn for those living in an agricultural community. Not having ever read The Stranger by Chris Van Allsburg, but being familiar with his beautifully rendered illustrations in other works such as Jumanji and The Polar Express, this piece was selected for review due to its agricultural and autumnal themes.
