La alegoría de la Razón de Estado en la Iconología de Cesare Ripa ofrece una serie de elementos entre los que destaca... more La alegoría de la Razón de Estado en la Iconología de Cesare Ripa ofrece una serie de elementos entre los que destaca el empleo de la imagen del cetro abatiendo los tallos más altos de una mata de amapolas, tomada de Tito Livio, y que (por derivación de fuentes semejantes o por coincidencia de motivos argumentales) aparecía también en la vieja leyenda aragonesa de la "Campana de Huesca". La vinculación entre el
legendario episodio histórico aragonés y e! texto de! historiador latino (realizada expresamente por Jerónimo Zurita) da pie en el Siglo de Oro a una relectura del relato cronístico medieval en clave política que, como no podía ser de otro modo, se
adecua a la mentalidad vigente en su momento. De este modo, la explicación de las supuestas motivaciones del rey aragonés Ramiro II en el siglo XII se convierte en una relectura del episodio en clave tacitista. El resultado final es que el motivo conduce en los historiadores aragoneses del período (el mismo Zurita y Martínez del Villar) a un planteamiento que coincide en muchos puntos con la Razón de Estado tal y como Ripa la había alegorizado.

This originality can only be... more With Llull it is a commonplace to emphasize his originality in the use of exempla. This originality can only be evaluated by contrasting his use of certain narratives with those we find in other authors. This is precisely what I try to do, in this study, by means of: a) confronting sorne Lullian exempla with others which could have been their source; b) a description of how these texts are articulated within a concrete work - the first book of Felix; c) a proposal for a system of formalizing the textual structures studies, in order to facilitate their study.
