A student essay written for 'Intellectuals and Politics' class at the Mphil in Modern Society and Global Transformations, University of Cambridge. Supervised by Patrick Baert. An application of the positioning theory to Alexandr Dugin's rise form marginality to MSU professorship. My work relies on Andreas Umland's PhD thesis on Dugin which was a great and timely discovery.

Appendix B annotates the article illustrating the formal structure of the Five Paragraph Essay. You should note the vast improvement resulting from over one hour’s worth of diligent “five paragraph” essay writing, focussed research (re-reading the relevant elements of the text carefully), followed by dinner, then a further 30 minutes of careful re-structuring and editing. Compare the raw facts presented in Rob- bins, Millet & Waters-Marsh, 2004, p. 8 with the additional arguments, ideas, opinions, and persuasions presented in this essay. “Time is the best editor” (Anne French).

In his images he had captured the old weird America of the rural South as it merged with the vulgar new post-war America of plastic and neon. His subjects were ordinary: a pick-up truck, a freezer, discarded shoes under a bed."

Essaying the Blog - Your Post's Contribution
The first section of this paper explores an analogy between the generic characteristics of essay-writing and those of blogging, as modes of tentative, processual textual practice. Blogs open up a new age for essay-writing, in a medium well suited to develop some characteristics of the genre. The second section of the paper puts forward some parameters to gauge a number of dimensions of originality and relevance in blog posts, some of them specific and some non-specific to the medium.

The reflection brought about by Coutinho in the pages of A filosofia de Machado de Assis [The Philosophy of Machado de Assis] on the establishment of a ―classic‖ spirit in Machado is utilized in this work to carry out some similarities between Michel de Montaigne‘s Essays and the crônicas of Machado de Assis‘ series ―Bons dias!‖ [―Good morning!‖]. To that end, are thought to genres in which these writers develop their writing projects, the essay and the crônica. Montaigne is present in various ways in ―Bons dias!‖, including the confluence theme. The role of Montaigne in Machado‘s formation is not restricted to spiritual attitude, but there is a necessary step for literary creation.
