Vendors and service providers might want to obtain benefits by charging for their electronic contents and services. Thus, they might need to offer different payment protocols to make the payment. Payment frameworks appeared for this purpose. However, currently, none of them provides a comprehensive solution that facilitates the negotiation and the choice of the payment protocol to perform the purchase. In this paper, we present the general approach we have followed for the design of different payment frameworks that facilitate these processes. This approach is built upon the base of a set of generic components that we have defined. Namely, a generic payment protocol for supporting payments with different protocols; a payment schema that allows the description of payment information and the definition of payment extensions to some protocols; a generic wallet Application Programming Interface (API) to support the definition of wallets for different protocols, and a payment ontology for the semantic annotation and description of payment information. These generic components can be utilized in different scenarios and provide a uniform way to make purchases, which generates user trust and simplifies its use.

These models allow organizations to integrate their processes with procurement companies to automate and facilitate the purchase of indirect goods. There are currently a variety of procurement models for e-commerce that have been proposed by researches and practitioners. In this paper we develop a comparison framework based on characteristics and aspects that may represent advantages and/or disadvantages for those organizations implementing these models. We compare four of these models based on our comparison framework, and provide an analysis of the pros and cons of each procurement model compared.
Support vs Confidence in Association Rule Algorithms

There are currently a variety of algorithms to discover association rules. Some of these algorithms depend on the use of minimum support to weed out the uninteresting rules. Other algorithms look for highly correlated items, that is, rules with high confidence. In this paper we present a description of these types of association rule algorithms and a comparison of two algorithms representative of these approaches, with the aim of understanding the pros and cons of the support- and confidence-based approaches.
A Security, Trust and Assurance Research Framework for Electronic Commerce

While e-commerce is expected to become the dominant means by which business will conduct transactions, it is also predicted that Internet based fraud may become the largest type of white-collar crime. Current Internet crime has either customers or businesses as main actors in the guise of perpetrators, impersonators, or just non-genuine businesses. Therefore, it is essential to improve e-commerce security, build trust between the participants, and provide assurance. This paper provides a research framework for investigating these issues within e-commerce and suggests research methods and directions that may be valuable to the research community.

Electronic commerce growth has been accompanied by an increase in fraudulent practices. Researchers have proposed rules-based auditing systems for electronic commerce transactions, but they highly depend on the auditor’s knowledge of e-commerce fraud (Wong et al., 2000). While fraud patterns may occur, the management, control, and application of these patterns is difficult due to the increasing number of online transactions currently handled by e-commerce systems. In this paper, we present research in progress of the prototype of an extension to e-commerce auditing systems that use data mining techniques to generate rules from fraud patterns. Subsequently, the system applies these rules to e-commerce databases with the aim of isolating those transactions that have a high chance of being fraudulent.
A Comparison of Online Electronic Commerce Assurance Service Providers in Australia

Assurance services have become important due to the medium in which Electronic
Commerce (EC) is conducted. As the name suggests, EC takes place in a virtual
environment and across geographical boundaries. In such conditions, customers
find it difficult to verify the credentials of the online business, are sceptical of online
trading and have real concerns about the security and privacy of their data and
transactions. To bridge this trust gap, Electronic Commerce Assurances Services
have recently emerged – to verify the credentials of EC businesses and to certify
them in a manner in which the online user will be more confident when carrying out
e-business. The main aim of this paper is to conduct a comparative study and
analysis of four major assurance service providers currently active in Australia.
This paper compares the service providers by the functionality of services provided
and aims to discuss advantages and pitfalls with their use.
