The research focuses on his theologizing philosophy, which was rather neglected in the previous philosophical and historical works dealing with his thought. The author focuses on basic aspects of Chelčický’s teachings as his rejection of all forms of violence and the idea of Christocentrim. The main interest of the author is the analysis of the reception, de-viation or re-reception of Chelčický´s philosophical and theological thought from the first generation of the Unity of the Brethren to John Amos Comenius. According to the author, Comenius’ work can be interpreted as a completion of the triad reception (characteristic of the Czech context up to the mid-nineties of the 15th century) – de-viation (delimitated in fact by the 16th century and the first two decades of the following century) – analogy (being represented by the last bishop of the Unity of the Brethren).

Against the unity prayer of Jesus in the gospel of John chapter 17, divisions within Christianity have been common from the beginning. New steps for unity are outlined that provide grass-roots opportunities in local churches and communities.
Fundamental to the new unity movement are principles and a change in paradigm that give a fresh approach to the ancient problem of divisions among people who identify themselves as followers of Jesus.

It functioned both as a way of seeing nature but also as a way of being in the world. This essay explores the intellectual and experiential facets of design arguments by focusing on who promoted them and, just as important, why they appealed to so many people on a daily basis. In short, we learn that natural theology was a way of knowing and doing. The essay is structured around three kinds of natural theologians: philosophers and theologians, savants and scientists, priests and pedagogues. Whilst I take care to address well-known names like William Paley and Charles Darwin and classical disciplines like physics and theology, my larger aim is to show the appeal of design to middle class readers and authors (especially women) and to the founders of the emerging human sciences like biomedicine and evolutionary anthropology.
“Screening Faith: Catholics on TV”

Since Catholics star on the big screen, as well as on the flat screen in American homes, it is useful to have a close look at the different depictions of Catholicism and their criticism by institutions. Using examples from movies such as Million Dollar Baby and Gran Torino as well as TV series such as Ally McBeal, Bones, The West Wing and The Simpsons, this article discusses the fascination with Catholicism on the screen and argues that even depictions seen as negative by the Catholic League do not necessarily harm Catholicism.
Yesterday’s Church of Tomorrow - St. John the Baptist, Ermine Estate

Consecrated in 1963, the parish church of St. John the Baptist is a major contribution to ecclesiastical architecture of the second half of the 20th century. This avant-garde building is the central feature of the Ermine Estate in the provincial city of Lincoln. Its importance lies in combining innovative minimalist architectural thinking with advanced liturgical planning. The structure was designed by an architect largely invisible in architectural history, Sam Scorer, and a structural engineer, Hajnal Konyi. It consists of an impressive hyperbolic paraboloid roof made in reinforced concrete. Its form was fashionable and functional (romantically rational). It gave an impression of contradicting laws of gravity. It summarizes the post-war excitement with engineering.
The paper contains a discussion about contradictions and discontinuities that occur in the story of this intriguing architectural precedent.

Family was very important for getting the clerical condition (capellanías had a great importance) and for getting many ecclesiastical benefices. So, clergy always promoted their family as much as possible.

We describe the investigations made about the Spanish clergy of XVI and XVII centuries, starting off of from pioneering work of Domínguez Ortiz, and pointing the different phases from the
investigation, that will not have its great impulse until the Nineties of the last century. We indicate the aspects more treated by the historiography, like the impact of the catholic Reformation, the sociological aspects, the means of doctrinal diffusion used by the Church, and the answer of the people towards this propagandistical campaign.

Religione civile o usi politici di un culto? A proposito di un libro recente su S. Caterina da Siena

Starting from a historical research on the interrelations between the cult of S. Catherine of Siena and the cult of Italian Nation between the two World Wars, this essay also aims to test the validity of the notion of “civil religion” as applied to an analysis of religious phenomena. Can we better understand devotion, if we replace it with another absolute notion (such as “identity”)?
Or, in the sublunar world of historical research, is it more rewarding to examine how various political options have tried to intercept a cult and adapt it to their various aims (Lateran Agreements, war mobilization, racism)? Is an ideological notion, like “civil religion”, useful for loosening the knot of the relationships between politics and religion, or is it preferable to insist more on the political, social, geographical rifts among the promoters of a cult, rather than on homogeneity and condivision? And are these two approaches really incompatible? These are questions this work would like to focus
on, without forgetting that its fi rst purpose is to clarify a specific historical problem.
