In deze scriptie werd nagegaan in welke mate het mogelijk is om de multidisciplinaire concepten van de... more In deze scriptie werd nagegaan in welke mate het mogelijk is om de multidisciplinaire concepten van de complexiteitswetenschappen  toe te passen binnen de communicatiewetenschappelijke discipline. Aan de hand van een exploratieve literatuurstudie werd een beschrijvend, holistisch referentiekader opgebouwd dat de nieuwe wetenschappelijke inzichten van de complexiteitswetenschap verklaart en onderscheidt van het klassieke paradigma. Vanuit dit referentiekader werd de rol van de fundamentele begrippen van informatie, communicatie en digitale media in de huidige informatiemaatschappij bekeken. Dit werd gerealiseerd door middel van het uitdiepen van de verschillende subdisciplines waaruit de complexiteitswetenschap voortkwam, namelijk de systeembenadering, de cybernetica, de chaostheorie, de fractale geometrie en de studie van netwerken. De essentiële concepten van elke subdiscipline werden blootgelegd en gekaderd binnen de communicatiewetenschappen. Uit de studie kwam de centrale rol van informatie en communicatie als universele principes naar voor waardoor werd geconcludeerd dat een herbronning van de communicatiewetenschappen noodzakelijk is om een interdisciplinaire harmonisatie te bekomen. De complexiteitswetenschappen lenen zich inderdaad om binnen de communicatiewetenschappen gebruikt te worden. Verder werd een aanzet gegeven om de onderzochte concepten en fenomenen toe te passen binnen een empirisch kader van de communicatiewetenschappelijke discipline.

A threshold in thought designates... more ‘Soglitude’ is an invitation to acknowledge the existence of thresholds in thought. A threshold in thought designates the indetermination, the passage, the evolution of every state the world is in. The creation we add to it, and the objectivity we suppose, on the border of those two ideas lies our perceptive threshold. No state will ever be permanent, and in order to stress the temporary, fluent character of the world and our perception of it, we want to introduce a new suitable method to think change and transformation, when we acknowledge our own threshold nature. The contributions gathered in this special issue come from various disciplines: anthropology, philosophy, critical theory, film studies, political science, literature and history. The variety of these insights shows the resonance of the idea of threshold in every category of thought.

La... more La pensée des seuils propose une méthode de réflexion qui donne une place fondamentale au passage et au changement. La « soglitude » est d’abord un outil de repérage qui cherche à identifier la présence ou l’absence de seuils dans les méthodes ou systèmes, qu’ils soient philosophiques, artistiques ou scientifiques. La « soglitude » est une invitation à une nouvelle façon de voir, un examen des choses existantes et une possibilité d’en inventer des nouvelles. Introduire une philosophie par une méthode invite d’ores et déjà à la participation et se présente d’emblée comme une ouverture. D’autant plus que la soglitude est entièrement fondée sur l’ouverture et la multitude des points de vue.
