This article presents a study of an 18/19th-century Kabyle Berber manuscript from the Lmuhub Ulahbib library (Béjaïa,... more This article presents a study of an 18/19th-century Kabyle Berber manuscript from the Lmuhub Ulahbib library (Béjaïa, Algeria) dealing with theology (the Sanusi Creed). First, the manuscript is placed in its historical and religious context. The structure of the Berber text is presented and compared briefly with the Arabic sources. Palaeographic, orthographic, and linguistic features of the document are discussed and illustrated by means of a passage from the manuscript.

This paper presents the study of the Sanusi Creed in Kabyle Berber (manuscript KA 21 from the Lmuhub Ulahbib library,... more This paper presents the study of the Sanusi Creed in Kabyle Berber (manuscript KA 21 from the Lmuhub Ulahbib library, Béjaïa, Algeria). The Introduction provides necessary background information on Berber languages, on the manuscript in question, the topic it discusses, and the Arabic sources. The core of this work consists of the detailed analysis of the original document. It presents the text of the manuscript in the Arabic script, a line-for-line Latin transliteration, a transcription with added punctuation, a translation into English, interlinear glosses, and word-by-word glosses and comments. The last chapter discusses some of the most interesting features encountered in the manuscript, summarises the study, and draws some conclusions.
