Faculty Search – Library and Information Science The Faculty of Information, University of Toronto, more commonly known as the iSchool, invites applications in the area of Library and Information Science at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2012. We seek candidates with excellent research and teaching abilities and a commitment to shaping the future of the Faculty and the field of library and information science. The Faculty seeks a scholar who transcends traditional divisions and we invite applications from candidates with active research projects within one or more of the following areas: (i) Information access (e.g. organization, representation, provision); (ii) Information behavior (e.g. generation, seeking, searching, use); (iii) Information literacy (e.g. learning, resources, services). Focal themes might include research on information credibility, authority, and relevance; the future of libraries; and scholarly communication. The iSchool at the University of Toronto educates the next generation of professional and academic leaders in Information to transform society through collaboration, innovation and knowledge creation. The Faculty believes that society's information practices are being reconfigured and transformed by material shifts in information infrastructures and by political and cultural shifts in our attitudes toward information as a social phenomenon. Candidates must have a PhD (or equivalent), a proven record of scholarship, experience with multidisciplinary research, and strong teaching experience. Applicants should send curriculum vitae, teaching dossier (including a statement of teaching philosophy), copies of three representative papers/publications, and a statement outlining current and future research interests.
