The Program in Art and Art Education in the Department of the Arts and Humanities, is seeking a highly qualified and experienced artist/teacher/scholar with research interests in higher education and leadership in the visual arts. The candidate will be expected to enhance work already underway with partner colleges and museums and develop innovative research in both theory and practice offering guidance for policy decisions both within and outside the discipline. An interest in or experience of community and international education would be a plus. The individual chosen for this position will be expected to work at both the masters and doctoral levels in the program; work cross departmentally with colleagues in other arts and humanities disciplines and work across the college with other departments. Responsibilities: Teach graduate level courses in administration, curriculum development, and leadership practices in visual arts higher education; conduct research into the cultural conditions and practices shaping higher education-leadership skills with special reference to the empowerment of minority groups; provide leadership in sustaining collaborative projects with educational and cultural institutions both in the USA and overseas. Qualifications: Earned doctorate; evidence of superior research and artistic accomplishment; demonstrated commitment to leadership and record of successful teaching experience at the College/Museum levels. Evidence of a broad concern with teaching and learning in the arts as these are shaped by socio-cultural, technological, and diversity issues.
