Research Fellow £29,972-£35,788 p.a. (due to funding limitations it is unlikely that an appointment will be made higher than £29,972) University Grade 7 24 months fixed term Project Title: The role of chemokines in trigeminal central sensitization and chronic oro-facial pain This BBSRC-funded post is to support a collaborative project between the Universities of Leeds, Sheffield and Pfizer (Cambridge). The project aims are to characterise the expression of selected chemokines and their receptors in the trigeminal system, to investigate their role in hyperexcitability and central signalling, to establish their contribution to the development of trigeminal neuropathic/inflammatory pain and to provide new translational opportunities for the development of improved therapies for chronic oro-facial pain. The project is multidisciplinary and involves neuroanatomical, pharmacological and in vitro electrophysiological techniques therefore you should have experience in at least one these methods. A background in pain research is desirable but not essential. You will have a PhD, or be close to completion, in Neuroscience, Physiology, Pharmacology or another relevant biomedical subject. You will be an enthusiastic, dedicated and self-motivated scientist who is able to work independently and as part of the team.
