As our next Art Department Chair, you bring a successful track record as an artist and academic administrator, a foundation as a progressive educator and expertise in contemporary art practice. You are prepared to lead a forward-looking department in all areas of academic leadership, including curriculum review and program development, as well as contributing to the college, as a whole, in its recruitment and retention efforts. Your engagement in the broader arts community, in Seattle and beyond, is critical. Further, you must be able to lead the department in strategic thinking around the uses of technology, both as a tool in art making and as a medium in itself.

Accountable to the Provost, you will be responsible for providing strategic, administrative, academic, artistic and financial leadership, on a daily basis and will act as the public "face" of the department. Working collaboratively with other chairs as a member of the academic leadership team, you will lead a department offering programs in: painting, video art, photography, sculpture and print and facilitate student engagement across departmental lines. Serving 200 students and leading a committed team of 12 full-time faculty, adjunct faculty and a team of dedicated studio supervisors, you bring an unquestioned commitment to excellence in the fine arts, teaching and the pursuit of student success. With an MFA or equivalent and a professional record of studio art practice and exhibition, you welcome the opportunity to bring your master teaching ability to one course per year. You are committed to college and community life, in general and to the ongoing evolution of this vibrant department and institution. This is a year-round administrative position, with faculty ranking.
