The earth suffers from many environmental problems which need to be tackled at the individual level, requiring individuals to develop that awareness which will guide them to become environmentally supportive. The study endeavored to determine the significant relationship between the level of awareness and practices among Filipino college students on solid waste management. It employed descriptive correlational research design with 150 randomly sampled students. Using the adopted standardized survey instrument surfacing the level of awareness of solid waste management of students and their practices. Gathered data were analyzed and interpreted using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings of the study showed that the students are aware of the solid waste management. Most of them were aware of the policies and management of SWM but relatively not aware of their roles as students in the implementation of SWM. The students also have good practices in solid waste management in terms of properly disposing of, recycling, and reusing but moderately practice proper segregation and reducing. Results of the inferential statistics revealed that the level of awareness of the students influenced their practices on proper segregation, reduce, and recycling bu t no influence to their practices on solid waste management in terms of reuse and disposal. Present findings can be a basis for policy development on SWM implementation in the campus level.

Twenty four authentic samples of Acacia sieberana var. sieberana were collected from South Kordofan (SK) and White Nile (WN) states. The samples were analyzed to determine average values, of moisture, ash, pH, specific rotation, refractive index, number average molecular weight, intrinsic viscosity, nitrogen content, protein content, total uronic acid and acid equivalent weight of the gum. For (SK)samples average values, for the above parameters, were found to be: 8.56 %, 1.61%, 4.34, +104 ° , 1.337, 2.13× 10 6 Da, 8.56 ml /g, 0.37%, 2.45%, 9.2% and 1933 respectively, while those of WN samples were found to be: 9.12 %, 1.65%, 4.38, 103, 1.337, 2.29× 10 6 Da, 9.39 ml /g, 0.37 %, 2.43%, 9.4 % and 1884 respectively. The cationic composition showed the following sequence: calcium > potassium> magnesium > sodium. Traces of: Fe, Ni, Co, Mn, Cu and Pb were detected. Percent average values of sugar composition show that galactose, arabinose, rhamanoe, glucuronic acid and 4-O-methylglcuronic acid for the gum samples from both locations are similar. For SK samples the values were found to be: 9.8, 57, 4.0, 2.7 and 6.5 respectively, while those of WN samples were found to be: 9.9, 56, 3.1, 2.4 and 6.6 respectively. The molecular weight distributions, of two composite samples, of the gum from the two locations indicate the presence of three main fractions. The weight average molecular weight of SK and WN, composite samples, is 1.8 ×10 6 Da and 1.6 × 10 6 Da respectively. The emulsifying capacity study of the gum shows that the gum is a grade one emulsifying agent.

The backdrop of this chapter is the world we live in: an international #BlackLivesMatter movement, the state-sanctioned poisoning of water in Flint, Michigan, the water protectors at Standing Rock who are opposing the Dakota Access pipeline, and so many other instances of civil society erupting with movements for justice. I write this as President Trump takes office and appoints a slew of racist fundamentalists, among them Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon. Given these state of affairs, I have taken a moment to pause and contemplate the role of the scholar-activist in 21st century America.

Quantum Computer Science is the science of creating algorithms that exploit the fundamentals and behaviours described by Quantum Mechanics (QM). This type of computation expands other fields of computer science because of its unique behaviour.

This study attempted to illuminate the cause and relation between government, scholars, disciplines, and societal aspects, presenting data from a content analysis of published research with the key word "science communication" (Symbol: see text) in the title or in the key words, including academic papers published in journals and dissertations from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure database. Of these, 572 articles were coded using categories that identified science topics, theory, authorship, and methods used in each study to examine the breadth and depth that Science Communication has achieved since its inception in China. This study explored the dominance of History and Philosophy of Science scholars rather than Communication scholars. We also explored how science communication research began from theories and concepts instead of science report analysis and the difficulties of the shift from public understanding of science to public engagement in China.
