Structural analogues of vitamin D have been put forward as therapeutic agents able to exploit the immunomodulatory effects of vitamin D, without its undesired calcemic side effects. We have demonstrated that TX527 affects dendritic cell (DC) maturation in vitro, resulting in the generation of a tolerogenic cell. In the present study, we aimed to explore the global protein changes induced by the analogue in immature DC (iDC) and mature human DC and to correlate them with alterations in DC morphology and function. Human CD14(+) monocytes were differentiated toward iDC or mature DCs, in the presence or absence of TX527 (10(-8) M) (n=4). Protein samples were separated into two different pH ranges (pH4-7 and 6-9), analyzed by 2-D DIGE and differentially expressed spots (p<0.01) were identified by MALDI-TOF/TOF (76.3 and 70.7% in iDC and mature DCs, respectively). Differential protein expression revealed three protein groups predominantly affected by TX527 treatment, namely proteins involved in cytoskeleton structure, in protein biosynthesis/proteolysis and in metabolism. Moreover, protein interactome-network analysis demonstrated close interaction between these different groups (p<0.001) and morphological and functional analyses confirmed the integrated effect of TX527 on human DCs, resulting in a cell with altered morphology, cell surface marker expression, endocytic and migratory capacity.

The study of interpersonal relationship networks belongs to a long and extensive multidisciplinary academic research field. Although the subject is not a new one, there has been an increase in the interest of the role of social networks in the business world. This article discusses a kind of network very peculiar to Chinese communities’ way of life: the Guanxi. Ever more emigrating to countries of occidental culture, the Chinese bring with them their way of being and doing business to which the Guanxi is a significant cultural trait. Knowing this type of relationship increases the possibilities of success for those who intend to do business with the Chinese, both in Brazil and in China. The article encompasses a theoretical framework, exposing Chinese and Occidental theories about relationship networks, allowing a broad understanding of how Guanxi works. Interviews and the relevant analysis of their contents complement the exploratory and qualitative research.

Résumé : Depuis le début des années 2010, le Runet (nom donné à l’Internet russe) est peu à peu perçu comme un cyberespace particulier, dont les spécificités de langue, de structures et d’usages semblent de plus en plus mises en valeur par le gouvernement russe. Cette perception s’appuie sur une volonté du gouvernement russe de particulariser et d’accroître l’indépendance de ce réseau vis-à-vis des principales structures mondiales (backbone). Certains chercheurs, tels que Kavé Salamatian et Laurent Bloch, posent ainsi la question de l’instauration de nouvelles frontières numériques en Russie, et évoquent un risque de balkanisation (de fracture ou de séparation selon la langue ou la nation) de l’Internet mondial.

Abstract: Since the beginning of 2010, the Runet (the Russian Internet) has become more and more perceived as a particular cyberspace, whose specificities in terms of language, structures and habits seem to be specifically outlined  by the Russian government. This perception relies indeed on the will of the Russian government, which seeks to particularize and increase the independence of this network towards the main global infrastructures (backbone). Thus, several researchers – such as Kave Salamatian and Laurent Bloch – ask if this new kind of fragmentation of the Internet could correspond to the establishment of new digital borders in Russia, and mention the risk of a balkanization of the global Internet (i.e. the separation of a territory between the different languages which are spoken on it, and between the different nations which live in the same area).

O objetivo deste texto é analisar as identidades políticas dos piratas. A partir da história do movimento dos Partidos Piratas, o artigo investiga como novos ativismos partidários têm vindo a instituir‑se ao redor do mundo através de uma reflexividade fundamentada em valores éticos e morais procedentes de utopias tecnológicas antecessoras à sua existência. Ainda no âmbito analítico, discute‑se como o imaginário reticular auxiliou a redefinir as regras da economia mundial e as formas de consumo, bem como serviu de suporte mobilizador de novas subjetividades empenhadas na reorganização da geopolítica da rede.

The purpose of this paper is to analyse the political identities of the pirates. From the history of the Pirate Parties Movement, the article investigates how new political activism has been instituted through a reflexivity sustained by ethical and moral values derived by technological utopias that precede their existence. In the analytical frame, it argues that the reticular imaginary helped to redefine the rules of worldwide economy and the forms of consumption, as well as served as a support to mobilize new subjectivities committed to reorganize the geopolitics of network.
