Within the studies carried out on the cult of Artemis Brauronia, the treasure-records of Artemis Brauronia found in Athens are one of the sources that have most attracted the interest of the scholars. The complete study of the types of garments listed in the inscriptions was not accompanied by the analysis of the remaining materials, that have been considered only in a very general overview. Despite the lack of texts, which preclude a statistical analysis of the registered artifacts, it is possible to distinguish the presence of different type of artifacts made in gold, bronze, ivory, and wood. These are different types of jewellery as well as pottery, containers, and miniature weapons.
The aim of this paper is to present these objects.

The study was conducted to establish the fact and dating of the joint rule of Rhadamsades and Rhescuporis V. The inscription of CIRB 66 and the coins of these sovereigns became objects of this study. We believe that Rhescuporis V was co-regent of Rhadamsades since his assumption of power. Moreover, these sovereigns were not originally equal, judging by the fact that in the first years of their joint rule, only Rhadamsades had the right to emit money. Rhescuporis V received the right to mint his coins after winning a war with external enemies. Rhadamsades and Rhescuporis V jointly ruled the Kingdom of Bosporus until the former’s death.

New reading and interpretation of a votive inscription kept at Tejeda de Tiétar, Cáceres (Spain) (Hep 3, 1993, 139). After direct examination, the authors (SA, MCG and MR) identify a hitherto unknown divine name Duitera, and propose a new lecture of the religious iconography. The linguistic analysis carried out by PdB identifies and archaic Celtic epithet *Dubitera meaning "the dark(er) one", that may have characterized a night goddess.

The inscriptions provide a wide and detailed documentation on the degradation of the Roman aqueducts and the consequent interruption of the water flow. These phenomena were mainly related to the collapse of
the supporting structures, due to multiple factors, such as incorrect design, lack of characteristics knowledge of the soil on which the arches rested, the action of water thieves or, even, the lack of maintenance.
Often, the damage was so serious that, as the inscriptions remind us, the construction of a new fabric was preferred to the restoration of the already existent one. Since interventions on aqueducts are often linked to
evergetism initiatives, implemented to promote the image of the character (the emperor or a magistrate, for instance) who paid for the work, the data offered by epigraphs must always be verified by crossing them with those offered by other sources, in particular from the archaeological evidence.

This paper in English publishes a knife blade from southwestern Asia Minor and its two inscriptions which is kept in the private collection of Ms Berna Oğuz in Izmir, Turkey. The authors argue that this is a relic of the attested hair-cutting ceremony of young Carians.

In the Roman inscriptions the message was conveyed to the readers not only through the content of the engraved text, but also through its layout and its syntax: layout choices were essential to present the information in the best possible way, while the selection of adequate syntactic structures was aimed at direct the reader’s attention towards one or another part of the inscription. The aim of this paper is to identify possible “secret messages” hidden in Latin inscriptions by studying the content, syntax and layout of selected examples from the epigraphic production of Mediolanum. 

La comunicazione epigrafica non passava soltanto dal contenuto del testo, ma anche dalla sua forma e struttura: l’impaginazione di un’iscrizione aveva infatti il fondamentale compito di presentare al meglio l’informazione da trasmettere, così come determinate scelte sintattiche servivano allo scopo di evidenziare in modo differenziato l’una o l’altra porzione di testo iscritto. Questo contributo si propone di indagare possibile messaggi “nascosti” all’interno delle epigrafi latine – per lo più legati alla volontà di autorappresentazione del titolare – partendo da esempi tratti dall’orizzonte epigrafico di Mediolanum, di cui si analizzeranno in modo parallelo contenuto, sintassi e impaginazione.

Nel volume sono pubblicate le ricerche di alcuni relatori che hanno partecipato alla giornata di studi sulle evidenze archeologiche e storico-artistiche del Comune di Curti (CE) organizzata dall'Assessorato alla Pubblica Istruzione in collaborazione con il Gruppo Archeologico "Francesco Saverio Gualtieri" di Caserta. Di seguito gli argomenti degli articoli raccolti nel volume: alcune riflessioni sul limite orientale dell'antica città di Capua (Minoja), sepolture inedite della necropoli orientale di Capua (Colombo), il sepolcro monumentale ubicato presso la via Appia noto con il termine di Conocchia (Tuccinardi), l'analisi di materiali archeologici (ex voto fittili: Falcone, Migliore) ed epigrafici (Capuano, Ventriglia) provenienti dall'area sacra del Fondo Patturelli, la chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo (Pezzella).

This paper focuses on an unknown tessera nummularia that Francesco Bianchini, the famous scholar of antiquities, saw in Rome in the collection of Francesco Ficoroni. Bianchini went on to draw the piece in a manuscript now kept in Biblioteca Capitolare di Verona. On the tessera
nummularia we read the name of a slave, Chresimus, who belonged to two or more Bibuli. This family was united in a societas, which was in possession of a lot of money on July 1, 42 BCE. If the Bibuli can be identified as the Calpurnii Bibuli, we would have a further evidence of the
Roman aristocracy’s interest in financial activities in the second half of the 1st century BCE.

This article is the first study entirely devoted to the ancient inscriptions that once belonged to the antiquarian collections of the patrician Venetian family of the Grimani di Santa Maria Formosa. By examining a variety of published and unpublished documents, it has so far been possible to identify about 45 Greek and Latin inscriptions that were exhibited in their palace from the 16th to the 19th centuries. The analysis of the dynamics through which their celebrated private museum was acquired and later dispersed has enabled the author to identify the geographic origin and the current location of numerous objects, thus furnishing crucial information on some important sources for the study of ancient history.
